Konyak Union (KU) Mon unit has strongly condemned the firing incident that occurred at Longphoh village under Shangnyu EAC Mon district in the wee hours of August 18.
In a press release, KU Mon unit president Chingnye and assistant general secretary Yeangshong expressed dismay that “such dastardly act” was carried out even after repeated appeals and requests made time and again to all parties to desist from such act in the Konyak areas.
In this regard, KU Mon Unit has reiterated that Konyak areas would not be used as battleground by any party. The unit also appealed to all parties to uphold in letter and spirit the Eastern Nagaland People Organization (ENPO)’s December 18, 2007 resolution that “there should be no bloodshed threat, intimidation or any form of violence” within its jurisdiction.
At a time when human civilizations across the world were yearning for peaceful resolution to conflicts of any nature, KU unit termed as “extremely unfortunate” that firing has been used to make a point.
“Violence, firing in any form and nature cannot be condoned by the Konyak Naga people,” KU unit said and expressed strong opposition to “this havoc act”. KU unit cautioned it would not extend cooperation to any party/groups creating such like situation in and public area.
