MKYO offers community

In a heartwarming gesture, Mezoma Kuotsu Youth organization (MKYO) has displayed kindness and collaborative effort by offering tea, snacks and water to commuters passing through their jurisdiction after the NH-29 (Kohima-Dimapur) has been cut off due to massive landslide at Dzüdza under Sechü Zubza.

The alternative routes have been arranged for light vehicles via Jotsoma-Khonoma-Mezoma-Sechüma-Sechü Zubza and the Dzüdza Bridge-Mezoma Basa-Sechüma-Sechü Zubza routes. For heavy vehicles, the alternative route is Peducha Bridge-Tsiesema (10 Mile Road).

Restoration efforts have been underway, but incessant rainfall has worsened the condition, leaving many vehicles and passengers stranded. At such crucial moment, MKYO has come up with the idea to serve tea, snacks and water to all the passerby.

Speaking to Nagaland Post, MKYO president Vithokuolie said that they were inspired by retired IFS T Husie Lhousa to carry out community service at this crucial hour. He said it was rewarding to serve the people and see the people happily stopping and enjoying through their selfless act. He said numerous individuals have tried to give them tips, but they refused as their goal was not to collect funds but to assist travelers in whatever possible ways.

He said that on August 24 (Saturday), they will not be able to provide the service due to social work in the village. He however, informed that they will continue with the community service from Monday in the event the road was not restored.

Meanwhile, a traveler expressed his appreciation to the village for their selfless act of hospitality.
On August 17, Sechüma Women Organisation and Sechüma Village Council also offered tea, snacks, and water to the commuters passing through their jurisdiction.
