IGAR (N) addresses

Assam Rifles reiterated its commitment to the welfare of ex-servicemen, their families, and Veer Naris, during the 51st anniversary celebration of the Assam Rifles Ex-Servicemen Association (ARESA) Kohima held at the 13th Assam Rifles, Kohima Garrison.

Speaking at the event, Inspector General Assam Rifles (North), Maj Gen Manish Kumar stated that the Assam Rifles will continue to stand by ex-servicemen and their families, recognizing them as part of the larger ‘soldier family.’

Maj Gen Kumar stressed that it is the duty of current soldiers to ensure that ex-servicemen and their families receive all the benefits and rights they have earned. He reiterated that the facilities and schemes extended to ex-servicemen are not favors, but rights that have been earned through years of dedicated service. “We are here because of you,” he emphasised that the strength of the Assam Rifles today is built on the legacy of past service members.

Referring to Assam Rifles’ motto as “Friends of the North East,” Maj Gen Kumar acknowledged the essential role played by ex-servicemen in fostering this bond with the region’s people. He described Assam Rifles as a “soldier tribe” that transcends district and state boundaries, uniting those who have served, are serving, and will serve in the future.

The IGAR (N) also extended his heartfelt congratulations to ARESA Kohima for its 51 years of service and expressed gratitude to every ex-serviceman, Veer Nari, and their families for their contributions to the Assam Rifles’ legacy.

During the event, ARESA President, Merman Pradhan, shared the history of the association, while family members of ex-servicemen entertained the gathering with songs, dances, and a recitation of an Assam Rifles poem.
