Chumoukedima Lotha Students’ Union (CLSU) has vehemently condemned the “brutal assault” and intent to murder pastor Rhanlamo Kikon of Yanpha Baptist Church by Akhekivi, son of Ahovi of Kiyezhu B village and a cadre of NSCN (Khango) on August 24, at Naukhuti Town.

In a condemnation note, CLSU president Chantsu Lotha and general secretary Florence Patton said such “heinous act” against a revered individual without any definite reason or provocation, was utterly “despicable and unacceptable”.

The union said that attack on a religious leader, was tantamount to attack on the entire community and called upon the concerned authorities to take cognizance of the incident and take necessary and precautionary measures to prevent such atrocities from happening in future.

CLSU also urged the government and law enforcement agencies to ensure that those responsible were brought to justice and held accountable for their actions.
