Angami Students’ Union Shillong (ASUS) celebrated its 56th freshers’ meet on September 14, at Naga Community Hall, Nongrim Hill, Shillong.
The event was graced by president of Kohima District Football Association and vice president Kohima Village Youth Organizations Mhasimhalie Matthew Yhome, as chief guest.
In his address, Yhome, shared his life experiences and challenges that help him shaped his life. He motivated the students to strive for excellence and bring laurels to the Naga society.
Yhome emphasized the importance of leading a disciplined life, cautioning against the pitfalls of alcoholism and tobacco. He also encouraged the students to be ideal ambassadors of the Angami community and Nagas, emphasizing the significance of maintaining good relationships with the local people.
Highlight of the event was the crowning of Medozhazo Tachü and Vimenuo Sachii as ASUS Mr. and Miss Freshers 2024. This year ASUS introduced an exciting new change for the Freshers’ meet by holding an online voting process to select Mr. and Miss Popular. Vimenuo Sachii and Thejavisie Suohumvu were declared Mr and Miss. Popular.
