Kohima District Chess Championship concludes

Kohima District Chess

Kevilekho Zumvü emerged as the champion of the 4th Kohima District Chess Championship organised by Kohima District Chess Association (KFCA).


While Khrielie Sano and Viseyie Yano were placed in the first and second runner-up positions. The three winners walked away with cash prizes of Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.


Melesai Dawhuo, Vimhazo Tsukrü, Seyiekhrietuo Mere, Akhrietuo Kesiyie, Ravolie Kets, Kedihoto Puro and Muzaveto Phesao were placed in the 4th to 10th positions respectively.


In the Under-16 Years category, Vesho Doulo emerged as the winner while Mereh Doulo and Neipedezo Metha were placed in the first and second runner-up positions respectively.
In the best 50 years & above category, Sede Nagi emerged as the winner while Sukhavi Achumi and K Sekhamo were placed in the first and second runner-up positions respectively.


Winners in the U-16 and Veteran categories winners will each receive Rs 7,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 respectively. Altogether, 35 players participated with the Seluokuo Rame, 6-year-old as the youngest and K Sekhamo, 68-years-old, as the oldest player.


Prizes were handed out to the winners by KDCA advisor, Roko Angami, the ceremony was chaired by Vimhazo Tsükrü while vote of thanks was proposed by KDCA VP, Seyiekhrietuo Mere.
