Benreului Nkwa Kohima (BNK) celebrated the 51st Langsimngyi festival at Duolhou garden, Billy Graham road Kohima on October 31. At the event, Visa Meru an elder member of the Benreu community shared a brief history of the first Lamsimngyi celebrated in Kohima in 1974.
He encouraged the gathering to continue the tradition of fostering unity and also bonding together by coming together to celebrate this festival as envisioned by the pioneers. He reminded the younger generation that festivals not only unite the community but an occasion to showcase and understand the rich cultural heritage and tradition.
Awards and presentations were given to five HSLC & HHSLC meritorious students for 2023-2024.The festival also featured traditional games, and cultural dances followed by a grand festival feast.
