Nagaland: Peren district 10th inter dept tourney underway

The inaugural programme of Peren district 10th inter departmental tournament was held at Indoor Stadium, Jalukie on November 7.

The tournament was formally declared open by Deputy Commissioner Peren, Hiazu Meru, who attended as the special guest.

Speaking at the event, Hiazu Meru acknowledged the officers who have initiated the tournament 10 years ago. He stated that it is a platform which brings together officials and staff from different departments irrespective of their designation to interact informally and get to know each other better.

He also mentioned that such kind of event is an opportunity which fosters camaraderie as well as stress relief for government employees from work related stress.

The DC also underscored the importance of unity among the government servants in the district and hoped that the inter-departmental tournament will develop close functional understanding among the government officials in the district. He further encouraged the participants to display the true spirit of sportsmanship and wished the tournament a grand success.

The three-day long event will feature competition in the following sports discipline – Badminton, Carrom, Table Tennis, Penalty, Chess and Arm Wrestling. Earlier, the programme was chaired by EAC Jalukie, Sizin Rentta, while invocation prayer was pronounced by JTLBC evangelist, Rampauwalie.
