Minister of Roads and Bridges, G. Kaito Aye has called upon the Sumi community to unite for progress by reaming humbleness before God and be an agent for societal transformation.
The minister was speaking at the pre-Ahuna-cum-cultural competition organised by 15-U Satakha Area Sports and Cultural Association on November 12 at the public ground Satakha town.
Mentioning that Satakha was known for its rich history in contributing to the Naga national movement, social and political leadership, he encouraged the people of Satakha constituency, to come together, and participate in social and economic development.
He also stressed the need for focusing on community development over personal interests.
The minister also emphasized the importance of indigenous games and larger prospects of sports, including indoor games, to encourage youths compete at higher levels. He urged GBs, as custodians of the village, to take responsibility in good and bad times for the contribution of society. He appealed to the people to avail themselves of government schemes and assured his cooperation in helping unemployed youths.
In conclusion, Kaito encouraged GBs to observe Ahuna with thanksgiving prayers and receive blessings. On the occasion, the significance of Ahuna was delivered by Akukau Mughato Zhimo of Nunumi village, and a war dance was performed by Shoipu village.
The inaugural program began with an invocation by Vinotoli Achumi, APW-UBC Satakha. Various Sumi cultural and indigenous games competitions were also organised. This was stated in a press release issued by media cell, 15-U Satakha Area Sports and Cultural Association.
