Paiwang reviews healthcare

As part of the ongoing state-wide healthcare assessment drive, Health & Family Welfare Minister P. Paiwang Konyak, accompanied by officials, conducted inspections in Mokokchung town on Wednesday.

The drive focused on food safety, the sale of banned or illegal drugs, and ensuring pharmacies were manned by licensed pharmacists.

Paiwang inspected the markets, including the fish market, where he highlighted the dangers of harmful chemicals in fish. He also visited pharmacies to check for the sale of banned and illegal drugs, ensuring compliance with regulations.

During his visit to Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH), Paiwang reviewed the ongoing construction and announced an allocation of Rs. 3 crores for completion of the hospital’s Block-A, along with an additional Rs. 2 crores for completion of Critical Care Unit.

The minister also engaged in an in-depth discussion with doctors, hospital staff, and representatives of Ao Senden. During the meeting, Ao Senden raised concerns over the use of poor-quality materials in the construction of the new IMDH building.

In response, Paiwang assured them that the matter would be thoroughly addressed to ensure quality standards were met. The minister conducted an on-the-spot inspection of the Ayush Hospital under construction at Sabangya and emphasized the need for its timely completion.
