ICAR-NRC Mithun visits Dibbin Village, Arunachal

ICAR-NRC Mithun visits

A team from ICAR-NRC on Mithun, Nagaland, led by Chief Technical Officer, Dr. Kobu Khate, along with scientists, Dr. Harshit Kumar and Dr. Plabita Goswami, conducted a field visit on February 25 to Dibbin Village, Arunachal Pradesh.


The field visit was organised by ICAR- National Research Centre on Mithun, Medziphema in association with department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Dairy Development government of Arunachal Pradesh.


During the visit, over 80 Mithuns were vaccinated, tagged, and monitored for growth, with blood samples collected for analysis. The initiative plays a vital role in understanding genetic growth and enhancing farmers’ livelihoods.


The team also organized Mithun Mela on February at Nafra, West Kameng District, Arunachal Pradesh, offering a platform for knowledge exchange and community engagement. MLA West Kameng District, Dongru Siongju was the chief guest. Farmers participated in discussions on scientific Mithun rearing practices, benefiting from expert insights.


The Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Bomdila, and other experts were acknowledged for their contributions to Mithun husbandry. A total of 250 Mithun farmers benefitted from the program. The farmers thanked Director of ICAR-NRC, on Mithun, Nagaland, Girish Patil S for his support under the TSP scheme.


The institute, along with KVK West Kameng and AHVDD, GoAP, showcased technologies and products through exhibition stalls. A policy paper on Roadmap for revitalizing the Mithun sector in Arunachal Pradesh was released where the copies were distributed to farmer associations and line departments.
