Multi-vehicle collision at 5th mile claims one life, injures another

A multi-vehicle collision near a stone crusher at 5th Mile area, Chümoukedima in the early hours of Tuesday claimed the life of one person and left another injured.
According to police sources, the accident occurred between 12.45 to 1 a.m. and involved at least five vehicles– a Bolero, Thar, van, Scooty, and a motorcycle.
Reports indicate that the occupant of the Thar had stepped out to check on an earlier accident when a speeding Assam-registered Bolero rammed into the parked Thar, which then struck the victim and a nearby Scooty.
The impact left the victim with severe head and back injuries. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared brought dead by doctors.
Shortly after the initial collision, a van arriving at the scene stopped due to the obstruction caused by the accident.
A motorcycle then crashed into the parked van, injuring the rider, who was later taken to Zion Hospital. As of the time of reporting, the motorcycle rider was out of danger, while the owner of the Thar—who was driving at the time—succumbed to his injuries.
The driver and passenger of the Bolero fled the scene, and their whereabouts remain unknown. Police have registered a case, and an investigation is underway.
The deceased has been identified N William Koso, AFC A-licensed football coach.
Koso, who was also a professionally trained coach educator and convener Technical Committee of the Nagaland Super League (NSL).
