Nagaland gets national award

Nagaland has won national award for its efforts to eliminate tuberculosis (TB) under category B that includes “TB Mukt Panchayat initiative in which the percentage of Gram Panchayat that has qualified for TB free status in 2024”.


Commissioner & secretary Anoop Khinchi received the award on behalf of the state government from Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare (H&FW) JP Nadda during a World TB Day event held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on Monday.


The World TB Day 2025 summit on the theme “Yes! We Can End TB: Commit, Invest, Deliver” held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on Monday reaffirmed India’s commitment to a TB-Mukt Bharat.


The nation’s comprehensive approach to TB elimination driven by a “whole of society” and “whole of government” strategy was reiterated.


The summit highlighted significant progress in TB elimination through joint efforts from communities and the government. It also reflected on the success of the 100-Day Intensified TB Elimination Mission under the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.


In Nagaland, the state TB elimination programme implemented TB Mukt Panchayat initiative in collaboration with the Department of Rural Development. And altogether 166 villages who submitted claims were awarded with TB free status for the year 2024 after undergoing verification process jointly conducted by both the departments. This was stated in a press release by the H&FW Department.
