Refresher course for ASHAs

A two-day refresher training course for ASHA under NUHM concluded on March 25 at the office of the chief medical officer, Kohima. The training was attended by ASHAs based in Kohima urban colonies.

During the course of the training, ASHAs were imparted knowledge and skills focusing on maternal and child health, non-communicable diseases and other National health programmes. The training provided participants with valuable knowledge and practical skills to improve the effectiveness of their field activities, particularly during home visitations.

Over the years, ASHAs have been an integral part of the health sector, overcoming numerous challenges to serve as the backbone of the healthcare system. As key community health volunteers, they bridge the gap between the public health system and the community, playing a crucial role in promoting health education, sanitation, hygiene, nutrition, and ensuring timely access to healthcare services
