Educational institutions organize activities for students

As part of the academic and extracurricular activities, educational institutions across the state organised various programmes for the students.


AGHSS: Agape Higher Secondary School, Kiphire, (AGHSS) held a special Saturday activity on under the theme “Community-Based & Sustainable Tourism”, on April 12, at the school auditorium.


A press release by AGHSS informed that resource person for the session Longtili C. Sangtam, entrepreneur and journalist from Kiphire, highlighted the immense potential of Kiphire district in the field of tourism.


He urged students and local community to recognize the value of what they already have, instead of always depending on higher authorities or outside support. He further explained that tourism was one of the few industries where one get paid for traveling and showcasing what your place has to offer.


Kohima College: Kohima College hosted its 56th Cultural cum Literary Day on April 12, under the theme “Celebrating Ethnicity & Diversity”. The event was graced by joint director, Tribal Affairs Department, Dr. Meyisangla Longkumer.


The day featured series of competitions that highlighted the diverse ethnic traditions of the region, including war cry competition, debate competition on the topic “In today’s competitive job market, college degree indispensable criteria for securing a disputable position”, folk song competition, folk dance competition, extempore speech competition, etc.


LBC: Living Bible College (LBC) held its 20th graduation ceremony on April 10 at the Prayer and Healing Center, Ayinato.


According to LBC, graduation speaker, Dr. Kiyeho Sema, challenged the graduates to be individuals who were worthy, tested, and approved, standing as agents of transformation in a world where global Christianity is declining and Christian values are increasingly eroded.


A total of 15 students graduated from the college, 10 from the Bachelor of Theology program, and 5 from the Master of Divinity program, while several awards were presented during the program, including student of the year award, campus life award, academic excellence award, best preaching award, and Bible knowledge award.


DGC: Dimapur Government College (DGC) organized a farewell program in honuor of principal, Prof. Sanjay Sharma, who retired as principal of the college on April 12, at Central Library, DGC.


Minister, Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along, who attended the programme, congratulated Prof. Sanjay Sharma and thanked him for his exemplary service to the state of Nagaland.


In his farewell speech, Prof. Sharma thanked DGC family for organising the heartwarming farewell programme, and also highlighted areas in which the college has room to grow.


IQAC Cordinator, DGC, Dr. Vinyuhu Lhoungu, delivered a report of achievements and projects taken up under his leadership and thanked him for developing DGC into a premier institute in the state.


SCC: Sao Chang College (SCC), Tuensang, celebrated Literary Day on April 12 at the college’s Multipurpose Hall, bringing together students and faculty in a celebration of literary and cultural expression aimed at fostering holistic student development.


According to SCC, vice principal SCC, Dr. T. Lal Veda Chandra Kumar, addressed the gathering as the event’s speaker, where he highlighted the role of co-curricular activities, especially literary participation, in building leadership qualities among students.


During the competition hour, students showcased their talents through extempore speeches and group rendition of the college anthem, while off-stage competitions in essay writing, short story writing, and painting also took place, allowing students to explore and express their creativity.


CHSS: Army Recruitment Office (ARO), Rangapahar conducted extensive outreach program in Dimapur to enhance recruitment in Indian Army in various categories including Officers and Agniveer. The programme was held in coordination with Cornerstone Higher Secondary School (CHSS), on April 11, attended by over 216 eligible students.


According to PRO & Spokesperson, Ministry of Defence, the session covered importance and nuances of Agnipath scheme of recruitment, login procedure, creating login ID for registration, recruitment notification for the year 2025-26, its advantages, opportunities post four years and clarifications of queries.


The session dwelled on the modalities of officer entry schemes, which includes National Defence Academy (NDA), Indian Military Academy (IMA), Officers Training Academy (OTA), Military Nursing Services (MNS) and Territorial Army (TA) along with Service Selection Board (SSB).
