As we came across from the recorded history through written records and video records, the two world wars saw massive destructions, economic depression and loss of many lives. The First World War was fought in the year 1914-1919 A.D between big powers which came to be known as ‘Triple Alliance’ and ‘Triple Entente’. The immediate outbreak of the WWI was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria who was assassinated on June 28, 1914 by Gavrilo Princip, a Bosnian Serbs nationalist. The Second World War was fought between ‘Allies power’ and ‘Axis power’ in the year 1939 to 1945 A.D. The immediate cause of the outbreak of WWII was the invasion of Poland by Hitler’s Nazi Germany and the culmination of war witnessed with the Americans dropping Atom Bomb on Hiroshima (6th August.1945) and on Nagasaki (9th August. 1945). If the third world war being fought now then which nations would be forming an alliance? When we look into geo-political scenario of the world today, it is easily predictable by which nation will be heading the alliances and on which side the nations will be siding. It’s time to keep our fingers crossed as the war is looming day by day and the war seems inevitable.
The outbreak of the first two world wars has its reasons and agendas which were started for their own personal greed and desires. The WWII was the outcome of Adolf Hitler who was ambitious cruel dictator with his evil design to conquer the world and subjugate the people under his mighty rule. All these two wars took place in the 20th century when there was not enough facilities but now, we are living in the advanced 21st century with IT’s and AI’s advancing every day and influencing our lives and just imagine how much consequences will it be on humanity during the course of the war. It will be mass destructions of civilization and existence.
Currents leaders that could trigger WWIII
Now, we are living in the multipolar world where many countries possess huge military arsenal and nuclear weapons. When we look at the geo-political scenario, in our era too, we are witnessing a powerful leader who is none other than Russia’s Vladimir Putin, an ambitious leader who wants to unite the Russian speaking Donbass region and who had already invaded Ukraine (A sovereign and independent nation) in the year 2022. He also already annexed Crimea, a formerly soviet territory but was a Ukraine territory by the time Russia annexed it in the year 2014. It seems Putin’s Russia want to rejuvenate/revive the fallen Soviet era erstwhile USSR. Currently, Putin’s Russia has the most nuclear weapons. He has enormous support of his people and those who challenge his authority or oppose his leadership are seen as traitors resulting in suppression of freedom of speech by facing imprisonment and even mysteriously disappear/die if anyone goes against his leadership. One such incident was the mysterious death of Wagner Group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin who died on a plane crash. He was very influential leader in Putin’s life but he once revolted and challenged Putin’s authority. The same way Hitler treated his opponents and the same tyrannical way Hitler had started the Second World War after becoming a totalitarian leader. Anything could happen to any country in today’s geo political scenario. China interest in Taiwan and China’s expansionist policy through BRI (Belt and Road Initiatives) military buildup and its fast growing economy is a threat and too dangerous for western powers which could even shake the world order by making China only unipolar power.
Impact and consequences of the two world wars
After the wars were over, there were so many new diseases came up around the world. For instance in Japan, so many flus related death was reported. Famine was accompanied with influenza, cholera, dysentery, malaria, typhoid, typhus, and relapsing fever. Post world war veterans have faced many health issues of aging, cardiovascular diseases, cancer and Alzheimer’s type dementia. They also witnessed tropical diseases (like dysentery, diarrhea, malaria, infectious hepatitis and dengue) and exposure to nuclear weapons. Other infectious diseases that run rampant during the course of the war include respiratory infections, measles, rubella and the plague.
As we are living in the multi polar world, imagine if the war is fought now then it will surely be a nuclear war (use of hydrogen bomb) and a chemical war which will bring massive destruction and a catastrophe to humanity. The use of hydrogen bomb would mean total annihilation or total obliteration of our beautiful planet. These nuclear weapons produce ionizing radiation, which kills or sickens those exposed, contaminate the environment, and has long-term health consequences including cancer and genetic damage. The legacy of nuclear testing means that up to 2.4 million people worldwide could die from illnesses linked to nuclear testing.
According to the research, even the production of nuclear weapons has an effect on the environment and India too is a home to nuclear weapon which has already tested it. Producing the explosive materials used in nuclear weapons leads to long- lasting radioactive pollution. The thousands of nuclear weapons possessed by the US and Russia could bring a nuclear winter, destroying the essential ecosystems on which all life depends. Even a single nuclear detonation in a modern city would mean massive destruction to humanity. Whether the nuclear weapons detonated or not, it cause widespread harm to health and to the environment. Those countries that possess nuclear weapons were unable to control their might because they have weapon of mass destruction on their disposal that could inflict maximum damage to their opponents, making the nuclear nations with constant liability.
When we watch closely on geo-political development, the world is clearly dividing into two camps. NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) on one side and the RUSSIA alliance on the other side. It seems the Third World War seems inevitable with both side not interested in defusing the high altitude tension/drama unfolding day by day. So, are we too living in the era of witnessing WWIII? I guess we all wish not and this kind of war never happens again. We are also not very far away from them as just some decades ago, the WWII was too fought in Kohima with the Japanese forces (Axis force) landing in Kohima and fought diligently for their Motherland. For a better future and for a better world of tomorrow, only our prayer matters in order to bring amicable solution to the already ignited war mongering nations of nuclear powered leaders and restoring world peace.
