Angami Women Organisation (AWO) and Angami Students’ Union (ASU) jointly organized a felicitation program on May 2 at AWO Building, Kohima, to honor Angami students who excelled in the HSLC and HSSLC 2025 examinations. Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Vitsou Yano, principal of Modern College Piphema, spoke on the challenges students face in higher education.
She emphasized the growing importance of skill-based learning and encouraged the students to set clear personal goals rather than merely pursuing aspirations dictated by their parents. Dr. Yano encouraged open communication within families and advised parents to support their children’s dreams while maintaining a healthy dialogue.
She further stressed the need for a growth mindset, advising students to stay positive, embrace challenges, learn from mistakes, and adapt to the evolving age of AI by focusing on comprehension rather than rote memorization.
She also underscored the importance of cultural identity, traditions, and language. AWO president Neithono R. Sothu, in her address, expressed the joy and pride parents feel in their children’s achievements. She urged the students to remain humble, work harder, and acknowledge the sacrifices made by their families.
At the event, 23 toppers were honoured. Earlier, the programme commenced with a Bible reading and invocation by pastor Mhalevilie Yongo of Victory Church of All Nation. ASU president Khriesamhalie David Mere delivered greetings, while HSSLC topper Vikhono Senotsu spoke on behalf of the achievers.
