Officials from the department of Social Welfare led by its advisor, Wangpang Konyak toured Kiphire district to assess welfare schemes and encourage frontline workers on May 8 and 9, 2025.
On May 8, the team inaugurated the newly established District Program Officer (DPO) Office, Kiphire and visited various welfare centers, including DHEW, Anganwadi Centres, CDPO Office, One Stop Centre (OSC), and Observation Home. At Sitimi and Seyochung towns, officials reviewed an Aadhaar enrollment camp, urging locals to register, as Aadhaar was crucial for accessing government schemes.
Wangpang Konyak emphasized the need to remove wrongful beneficiaries so that resources reach the intended recipients.
On May 9, the delegation inspected the CDPO Office, Pungro Town, where Kiusumew Yimchunger, MLA and advisor department of Fire & Emergency Services, Home Guard & Civil Defense, joined discussions. Later, they visited Mimi Village and interacted with elders, who raised concerns about communication challenges affecting welfare services.
During the tour, Wangpang Konyak highlighted the crucial role of Anganwadi workers in delivering aid to beneficiaries. He also noted digital monitoring difficulties, particularly in remote areas, where poor connectivity hampers POSHAN Tracker enrollment. Many deserving individuals have missed out on aid due to the lack of Aadhaar registration.
