Author accuses NSLCB of plagiarism

A day after the Naga Script Literature Central Board (NSLCB) launched its basic handbook of Naga Script, founder and author of Naga Alphameric, N. Haisoyi Ndang has accused the NSLCB of plagiarism. Ndang , in a press statement Sunday, claimed that the handbook was a concoction of his original script known as Naga alphameric © 2002 and that “other caricatured figures” were picked up from elsewhere without any fundamental derivation. He said healthy though competition should be the ascent and motto of “literature the centre of excellence” but not by copying of someone else’s intellectual property. Pointing that as Nagaland state had promulgated its Copyrights Act in confluence with the Burne Convention Act 1911 (revised), he lamented that the very Act seemed to have failed to disseminate down to a section of people who “proclaimed to be the pioneers of Nagas”. Stating that there could be many competitors who are genuinely interested in bringing about a Naga script for the “greater glory” of Nagas, Ndang maintained that infringement on another person’s copyrights was a crime which should be discouraged by all sensible Nagas. He further expressed the hope that NSLCB would be more rational in their approach to such “entity of public domain” if their endeavour was for the well-being of the Nagas.
