Yitachu lamented that this was not probably the vision of “our pioneers” who painfully took the trouble of establishing schools and educational institutions.

Pointing out that the literacy rate of the state stood at 80.11%, which is more than the national literacy rate, the minister said that the state has no dearth of “educated persons”. He, however, cautioned that if this trend of acquiring education just for the sake of a degree continued then this will never move the society forward. Education minister said that unless “we take a U turn” from the present education system, “we will be heading nowhere.”

Further, Yitachu stressed on the need to have quality education where the idea of innovation, research and development and all other useful aspects happened in such educational institutions.

Only through this, the minister said can a society move ahead and develop a healthy competitive environment. The minster also said that the present system of checking corruption was in itself a very lucrative business, which according to him posed a dangerous trend in the society. “If this trend is not put to stop, we are heading nowhere”, he stated. Yitachu said there was therefore the need of educational institution that could imbibe the right kind of knowledge and education into the minds of the younger generations.

Yitachu called upon the teachers to impart quality education to students so they become employable. He also urged the students to acquire education so they could be able to give back to the society.

As the school prepares itself to march towards the next milestone, to attain 100 years in the next 25 years, the minister called upon all responsible to look forward with the focus of imparting true education.

Earlier, the minister upon his arrival unfurled the jubilee flag and inaugurated the e-library and science laboratory. The chief guest gave away jubilee citations and also released the jubilee souvenir.

Also, at the program, short speeches were delivered by Dr. Kilemla, guest of honour and alumna and Mrs. Asano Sekhose, chairman NBSE. Former headmaster of the school, Kiremwati, also delivered a speech. The jubilee choir presented special songs.
