{"id":102060,"date":"2016-08-30T00:17:15","date_gmt":"2016-08-30T00:17:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2016\/08\/30\/deadlines-served-on-state-govt-expire\/"},"modified":"2016-08-30T00:17:15","modified_gmt":"2016-08-30T00:17:15","slug":"deadlines-served-on-state-govt-expire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2016\/08\/30\/deadlines-served-on-state-govt-expire\/","title":{"rendered":"Deadlines served on state govt expire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">By count, there are at least two ultimatums served on the state government by various organizations pertaining to some pressing and crucial issues and by count also, have lapsed and some of other NGOs and tribal organizations lapsed long back.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>The question is what next, for those who have issued these ultimatums which have elicited high expectations from the public? Some of the crucial issues raised in the recent past included the ultimatums issued by the NTC, CNTC and also the challenge against the state over reneging on the assurance to the High Court over the issue of backdoor appointments.<\/div>\n<div>Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) on July18, 2016 issued an ultimatum on the state government to restore the suo moto powers of the State Vigilance Commission (SVC). The deadline was to be within two weeks time (probably with effect from July 18, 2016 when the statement was issued for publication). By this calculation, the deadline was to expire on August 1, 2016.<\/div>\n<div>The Central Naga Tribal Council (CNTC) on July 30, 2016 had also served an ultimatum on the state government to revoke its order giving Rongmeis the status of indigenous tribe of Nagaland. The deadline for fulfilling the ultimatum is to expire on August 30, 2016.<\/div>\n<div>ACAUT Nagaland on August 25, revisited the state government Office Memorandum (OM) issued on August 11, 2016 and belatedly after about two weeks, \u201cdiscovered\u201d that the OM had totally reneged on a commitment to the High Court that the government would redress the grievances by adhering to the cabinet OM issued on June 6, 2016.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>ACAUT Nagaland had filed a PIL on November 2015 against backdoor appointments in various government departments and subsequent regularisation of services of the appointees who have completed three years of continuous service.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>In response to ACAUT, the state cabinet took decisions which were reflected in the June 6, 2016 OM issued by the state chief secretary.<\/div>\n<div>When the Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench gave it ruling on August 5, 2016 it asked the respondents to issue another Office Memorandum that would address the grievances listed in the PIL.<\/div>\n<div>However, the August 11, 2016 OM totally reneged on the court directive and also the June 6, 2016 Office Memorandum.
