{"id":102355,"date":"2018-03-27T22:45:14","date_gmt":"2018-03-27T22:45:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2018\/03\/27\/kvks-organise-farmers-training-programmes-in-various-districts\/"},"modified":"2018-03-27T22:45:14","modified_gmt":"2018-03-27T22:45:14","slug":"kvks-organise-farmers-training-programmes-in-various-districts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2018\/03\/27\/kvks-organise-farmers-training-programmes-in-various-districts\/","title":{"rendered":"KVKs organise farmers\u2019 training programmes in various districts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/TFXOGOWDKYRKXVSHFEIY.jpg><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) of Peren, Phek districts and SAMETI Medziphema conducted awareness programmes in their respective centres for farmers.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">KVK Peren: A first awareness programme on \u201cProtection of Plant Varieties and Farmers Rights Act, 2001\u201d was conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Peren at Peren town on March 20 with additional deputy commissioner, Chubawati Chang as chief guest.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">During the programme, the chief guest expressed his positive expectations from the awareness programme and he exhorted the gathering to be aware of their rights under PPVFRA. He also encouraged KVK Peren to conduct other extension activities too in the future.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">The inaugural programme was followed by a technical session, wherein aims, objectives and characteristics of the act were disseminated, along with the procedure for registering a crop variety with the authority, by KVK personnel and a scientist of ICAR Nagaland centre. The programme was attended by students, government employees and representatives of nine wards under Peren town.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">KVK Tuensang: In Tuensang, a three-day residential training programme on \u201cAdvances in Crop Production Technology\u201d&#8211; with special reference to focus crops, under the livelihood project (implemented ECS and funded by NEIDA) for agricultural service providers and extension functionaries &#8212; commenced on March 20 at KVK, Tuensang.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">In a press statement, KVK office Tuensang said that it was aimed at training agricultural service providers and extension functionaries and to also equip them with knowledge and skill on modern crop production technologies for field crops with special reference to focus crops.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">The topics discussed covered principles and practices of crop production, integrated farming system strategies, quality maintenance in ginger, bio-fertilizers technology, sustainable agriculture, etc. The programme was jointly sponsored by North East Development Agency (NEIDA) and Eleutheros Christian Society (ECS) and was organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tuensang. Altogether 27 trainees attended the programme, which concluded on March 22.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">&nbsp;KVK, NU: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Nagaland University (NU) conducted an awareness programme on \u201cProtection of Plant Varieties and Farmers Rights\u201d on March 17 at Ihoshi Kinimi Hall, Nagaland University, Lumami.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">A press release by KVK, NU stated that while speaking as the chief guest, professor S.K. Chaturvedi (dean RDC) highlighted the importance of preserving indigenous varieties.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">The various topics were explained to the farmers by assistant professor, department of Botany, NU, Lumami, Dr. Paul; associate professor, department of Geography, NU, Lumami, Dr. Wangshimenla Jamir and Dr. Visakho Shunyu. A slide show on energy conservation was presented by Dr. Kundan Kumar SMS (Agril. Extension).<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">The speech of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Krishi Unnati Mela (IARI, Pusa, New Delhi) was also shown to the farmers on the occasion. The vote of thanks was delivered by farm manager, KVK, NU, Naropongla.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">KVK Mokokchung: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Mokokchung conducted a \u201cfarmers scientist interaction\u201d at Aliba village on March 24 with ACTO, Samuel Sangtam and ACTO KVK Mokokchung, Renbomo Ngullei as resource persons.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">A press release from KVK Mokokchung stated that during the interaction hour, topics on efficient water management in adverse climatic situations, weed management approaches versus climate resilient agriculture, information networking, vermin-composting and vermin-wash were discussed.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">The programme was chaired by ACTO KVK Mokokchung, Ruyosu Nakro. Altogether 24 participants attended the training.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">KVK Wokha: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Wokha organised a webcasting programme of the prime minister\u2019s address to farmers during the inauguration of Krishi Unnati Mela and biennial national conference of KVK\u2019s on March 17 at Lotha Tribal Council hall, Wokha<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">Speaking at the webcasting programme, chief guest Vejoyo Swuro, EAC, Wokha encouraged farmers to make the best use of facilities or resources which are available with KVK and other agriculture and allied departments because, he said, agriculture was the backbone of the Nation.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">Member from team metamorphosis (NGO), Thungdemo Kyong also encouraged farmers to avail the opportunities and be self sufficient. Dr. Zujamo Tungoe, SRF, KVK Wokha, delivered a presentation on energy conservation under Petroleum Conservation research association (PCRA).<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">The programme, which was honored by Abenthung, deputy director, department of agriculture, was followed by a live telecast of the prime minister\u2019s visit to the exhibition stalls and his address to the farmers. Altogether, 130 participants including farmers, officials from agricultural departments, NGOs and village chairmen attended the programme.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">The programme was chaired by Megokhono Meyase, SMS (horticulture) while Dr. BL. Mhalo Tungoe, SMS (agri. extension) pronounced the vote of thanks.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">KVK Dimapur: KVK Dimapur, ICAR research complex for NEH region, Nagaland centre, Medziphema organised two-day training-cum-awareness programme on \u201cprotection of plant varierties and farmers\u2019 right (PPV&amp;FR) act, 2001 and farmers variety registration\u201d, sponsored by PPV&amp;FRA authority, New Delhi at Dhansiripar village on March 17.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">Mhalo Humtsoe, SDO (civil), Dhansiripar block attended the programme as the chief guest, along with Dr. A.H. Khan, deputy registrar, PPV&amp;FRA regional office, Guwahati and Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh, plant variety examiner, PPV&amp;FRA regional office, Guwahati.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">Dr. A.H. Khan elaborated on the implementation of PPV&amp;FR Act, 2001, Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh spoke on registration and protection of farmers\u2019 rights under PPV&amp;FRA and Dr. Kolom Rabi, ACTO (plant breeding) KVK Dimapur spoke on the farmers\u2019 variety registration and its procedures. 120 participants from Dhansiripar and adjoining villages attended the programme.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">Meanwhile, one day on campus training-cum-awareness programme was also conducted at KVK Dimapur on March 26 wherein 54 farmers participated from Pherima, Seithekema C, Peren town, Medziphema, Dhansiripar, Amaluma, Beisumpuikam, Jalukiekam and Sarupathar ( Assam). Dr. Harendra Verma, scientist (plant breeding), ICAR Nagaland centre delivered a lecture on protection of plant varierties and farmers\u2019 right (PPV&amp;FR) Act, 2001.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">A total of 17 farmers\u2019 varieties which include 13 rice varieties, one maize variety, one banana variety, one turmeric variety and one Colocasia variety were collected for registration with PPV&amp;FR authority during the programme.
