{"id":103902,"date":"2018-04-08T23:48:07","date_gmt":"2018-04-08T23:48:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2018\/04\/08\/atma-conducts-various-programmes-across-the-state\/"},"modified":"2018-04-08T23:48:07","modified_gmt":"2018-04-08T23:48:07","slug":"atma-conducts-various-programmes-across-the-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2018\/04\/08\/atma-conducts-various-programmes-across-the-state\/","title":{"rendered":"ATMA conducts various programmes across the state"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) conducted various activities and trainings to benefit and educate farmers across the state.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">ATMA Longleng Kisan Gosthi: Agricultural Technology Management agency (ATMA) organised a \u201cKisan Gosthi\u201d on March 16 at Orangkong village.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">BTM Longleng block, Aienla spoke briefly about Kisan Goshti and she taught the farmers about upland paddy cultivation and its insect pest and disease management. She advised the farmers on treating the seedlings with the bio control agent trichoderma, before sowing and also on weeding paddy fields manually which, she explained, should be done every 2 to 3 weeks. Aienla also recommended that the farmers should not slash and burn the crop residue after harvesting but use the straw for mulching purposes and incorporate intercropping practices.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">Altogether 15 farmers attended the event wherein maize seeds were also distributed among the farmers.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">ATMA Longleng Tamlu block: ATMA Longleng, Tamlu block conducted a demonstration on \u201cnursery management\u201d at Chingshang village on March 16 with agriculture inspector, DAO office Longleng, C. Amei Phom as the resource person. He emphasized on the importance of nursery management and how healthy seedlings grown in a well managed nursery will improve the yield and consequently profit the farmers.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">The trainees were also apprised on the benefits of bio-fertilizers and bio-fungicides while demonstrations were conducted on its methods of application.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">A field day on \u201cPackage of Practices on Maize Cultivation\u201d was also held on March 16 at Nian village with BTM, Moasunep as the resource person. Altogether 58 farmers attended the training and demonstration programme.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">ATMA Mon: Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Mon organised an interstate farmers exposure tour and training from March 19 to March 24 to enhance farmers skills in hill agriculture.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">The tour covered Barapani and East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya. During the tour, farmers saw hands-on demonstrations, facilitated by scientists and technical experts, on recent trends in agriculture and allied sectors, at ICAR horticultural division, agronomy division, fishery division and meat processing facilities division.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">The farmers also participated in a day\u2019s training on technology and machinery demonstration \u201cmela\u201d at the agriculture engineering division. 20 progressive farmers benefitted from the programme.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">ATMA Tseminyu: ATMA Tseminyu organized a \u201cFarmer-Scientist Interaction\u201d programme on March 20 at SDAO office Tseminyu with scientists from KVK Tesophenyu, ACTO (Plant Protection), K. Micheal Pieny\u00fc, ACTO (Soil Conservation), Zhiede and ACTO (Agronomy), Imtisenla as resource persons. The programme was chaired by BTM, ATMA Tseminyu block, Dr. Vibeilie Kerets\u00fc. The invocation prayer was said by AFA, R\u00fczh\u00fcthong, keynote address delivered by SDAO Tseminyu, Viwheto Thorie, while the vote of thanks was delivered by BTM Chunlikha block, Kekhrieselie. During the interaction session, the farmers raised queries on pest and disease problems and their management, effects of using common salt in paddy for weed control, how to carry out liming in fields etc, which were clarified by the resource persons.
