Nagaland university non-teaching staff association (NUNTSA), which had launched an indefinite \u201cpen down\u201d strike June 2, has called off the stir following the fulfillment of its demands by the university authority. The association, in a statement, has expressed gratitude to university authority, establishment section of NU, NUNTSA of Kohima, SASRD and SETAM campuses, teaching faculties and student community for their support and co-operation. Meanwhile, Nagaland university teachers\u2019 association (NUTA) Thursday renewed its demand for sacking university vice-chancellor (VC) Prof. K. Kannan while drawing the attention of Nagaland governor, who is also university\u2019s chief rector, to the \u201congoing crisis\u201d in the NU. CEC, NUTA Rosemary Dzuvichu secretary general Dr. N. Venuh, in a letter addressed to chief rector, said the responsibility for delay of undergraduate BA results must be borne by Prof. K. Kannan and his \u201cunilateral decisions\u201d regarding examination system in the university. The NUTA leaders stated that \u201cfiasco and failure\u201d of online question paper delivery and present shortage of examiners from colleges were serious concerns \u201cwhich has led to the loss of credibility of the university and delay in declaration of results.\u201d \u201cThe same has been brought to the notice of the Visitor,\u201d they said. CEC, NUTA also maintained that \u201ccontinuous absence\u201d of vice-chancellor during such \u201ccrisis\u201d under vague excuses was ample proof he was neither interested in development of the university nor welfare of students, both at the university and colleges. Stating that they condemn VC\u2019s \u201csudden disappearance\u201d from the Lumami headquarters without resolving these crucial issues, Dzuvichu and Venuh demanded the chief rector recommend Kanna\u2019s \u201cimmediate removal\u201d as enumerated even in earlier memorandums and restore normalcy and credibility in the functioning of the University. NUTA also extended its support towards the \u201cgenuine demands\u201d of the NUNTSA on all service matters, which it alleged has seen serious violations and total lack of concern by vice chancellor during his whole tenure. Claiming that it has sought clarification from MHRD on the matter of DPC, the NUTA said it has been clarified that as these were internal matters affecting internal employees, the vice chancellor can conduct the DPC to avoid affecting any loss of benefits and promotions, but not fresh recruitment of any outsiders. <\/p>\n
