MIP Thursday said the over 60-year old Naga struggle was an expression of Naga people\u2019s \u201canger against forceful occupation and division of their beloved homeland\u201d and described it as \u201ca blueprint of democratic tradition constantly at work within\u201d that evolved through its national assembly (Tatar Hoho). It said GPRN\/NSCN \u201cis living legacy\u201d of great Naga revolutionaries \u201cwho preached and practiced democratic principles\u201d by convening the assembly whose decision was final when there was need for cease fire, bilateral talks or change in leadership. It said expulsion and impeachment of former chairman Khaplang both from the party (NSCN) and the government (GPRN) at the emergency national assembly, was reaffirmation of the \u201csuperiority of the nation over an individual, no matter his position or status.\u201d MIP said on June 7, the choice before the national assembly was between chairman S.S. Khaplang or the Naga people. It said the Hoho \u201csided with the will of the Naga people\u201d and unanimously chose \u2018Gen\u2019 Khole Konyak \u2018command-in-chief\u2019 as its new chairman. It reminded that \u2018Gen\u2019 Khole a \u201cveteran freedom fighter since the days of the NNC\u201d was among the few who \u201cvehemently opposed killing among the Naga brothers.\u201d It said while Khole endorsed the GPRN\/NSCN\u2019s participation at the highest level meeting at Dimapur on September 18, 2010 Khaplang \u201cordered not to attend\u201d. Prior to the September 18 meeting, MIP said one P. Tihak, on Khaplang\u2019s behalf, declared withdrawal from the Covenant of Reconciliation (CoR) and \u201caccusing IM group of insincerity\u201d. While admitting to violations, it however expressed shock at Khaplang\u2019s statement from eastern Nagaland which was \u201ca slap in the face\u201d on the FNR in particular and Nagas in general. Affirming that people\u2019s will cannot be dictated by an ever elusive man, absenting from \u201cthe scene of reconciliation\u201d, the MIP lauded the local media for withholding the statement till it was \u201ccorrected and pruned\u201d to go with the desire of Nagas. It said when the CoR was signed, Khaplang was expected to strengthen Naga peace and reconciliation but instead, he \u201cthreatened to unleash further bloodshed\u201d It accused Khaplang of covertly accepting the Burmese junta\u2019s carrot when first ever elections were held in Naga areas recently, thereby making it impossible for him to participate in the Naga reconciliation process. MIP said after the June 7 expulsion from both the party and government, any press statement on Khaplang\u2019s behalf by Tihak be treated as having no value. It advised Nagas not to be confused by the opinion of \u201cP.Tihak, a Khasi\u201d and former general secretary of Achik National Volunteer Council (ANVC) acting as Khaplang\u2019s spokesman. It said an impeached leader has no moral authority to issue any statement to the Nagas and also declared \u201cnull and void\u201d Khaplang\u2019s appointment of military officers to various posts through Tihak\u2019s statement on June 22. To avoid confusion, MIP clarified \u201cthe party is NSCN and the government GPRN\u201d and nomenclature \u2018GPRN\/NSCN\u2019. It said GPRN\/NSCN chairman \u2018Gen\u2019Khole and general secretary N. Kitovi Zhimomi assure Nagas that except those few expelled, the Naga army and civil authorities both in eastern and western Nagaland were intact and functioning normally. There was never a split but only removal of Khaplang \u201ca self righteous leader\u201d and an obstacle to Naga reconciliation and peace among Nagas, it said. MIP said FNR\u2019s efforts \u201cmust continue unabated\u201d if future of Nagas was to be secured through an acceptable political solution adding, that priority for a man was to be prepared for any eventuality but the value was higher if he talked peace and not war. <\/p>\n
