In a suspected murder case, a 42 year old school chowkidar of Mezh\u00fcr Higher Secondary School (MHSS) Kohima was found dead in front of the school gate, Midland here on Sunday night. According to police, the dead body was found by some Church goers at around 9.10pm who alerted colony residents and was later reported to the police at around 10pm.
\nPolice rushed to the spot and recovered the body. The deceased\u2019s body bore cut mark on his cheek and is suspected to have died due to excessive bleeding. The body was found in the drain of the footpath where there was pool of blood. There was also report of some bloodstain on the wall where his head was suspected to have hit first before collapsing.
\nThe deceased, identified as Jehrul Islam, hailing from Dangoria village under Nagaon district of Assam, was reportedly serving in Mezh\u00fcr Higher Secondary School as chowkidar for the last 21 years. He is survived by his wife, daughter (class 8) and son (class 1).
\nThough the exact cause of death is not known, police did not rule out foul play in the incident and in this regard, investigation is on to ascertain the cause of dead. However, there was no report of any lead or arrest made till the time of filing of this report.
\nMeanwhile, the managing director of the school, Atuo Mezh\u00fcr, speaking at the funeral expressed sadness and said he had lost a dedicated and hard working man who knew all the working conditions of the school.
\nWhile conveying condolences to the bereaved family members, the managing director also declared that the two children of the deceased would be given free education till class 12 in his school and the wife employed in the school.
\nMeanwhile, the Muslim community of Kohima has appealed to the responsible authority to book the culprit(s) at the earliest and deliver justice. The body of late Jehrul was later taken to the native place on Monday after necessary formalities were made and funeral service conducted by the school authority.<\/p>\n
