Against the backdrop of plans to make this year\u2019s Tuluni festival the most significant and grand with participation of NSCN (I-M) chairman Isak Chishi Swu, who is expected to be the \u2018Tuluni Father\u2019; expectations could be belied in the face of uncertainty over Swu being able to make it from New Delhi. Swu\u2019s participation as Tuluni Father at the celebrations in Zunheboto on July 8, was also meant to provide an opportunity to meet with his long time colleague N.Kitovi Zhimomi, general secretary GPRN\/NSCN before the split in the NSCN. The cloud of uncertainty arose on account of the tight schedules of Swu, who, sources said was engaged in a series of high level talks in New Delhi. A meeting between the two is considered significant for the ongoing Naga reconciliation under the Covenant of Reconciliation organized by the FNR. Similarly, if Swu cannot be in the state and Zunheboto, it would be a major disappointment in all respects. The Naga reconciliation by the FNR now has three \u2018NSCNs\u2019 asserting their respective commitment- Isak-Muivah, Khole and Khaplang besides the NNC\/FGN. The NSCN (I-M) has however remained tight-lipped over the proposed visit. A source in the NSCN (I-M) delegation presently with the \u201ccollective leadership\u201d in New Delhi disclosed they were engaged in a series of meeting with the government of India. The source revealed that the talks were at a crucial stage and the itinerary of the chairman was therefore , \u201cpacked.\u201d Speculations were also doing the rounds that Swu may call off his proposed attendance at Tuluni festival taking in account the importance of the \u201cmarathon\u201d talks that were underway in New Delhi. Sources also said that several rounds of talks were held between the collective leadership and other leaders of the NSCN (I-M) and the government of India in New Delhi. It was also learnt that a group of \u201csenior leaders\u201d of the outfit would be joining Swu and Muivah and the delegation in New Delhi for further deliberations on another \u201cformal talks\u201d with the central representatives. The source said the NSCN (I-M) was optimistic that a solution will be arrived at the \u201cearliest\u201d in resolving the decades long Indo-Naga political problem. Meanwhile, it was learnt that hectic preparations are underway at Zunheboto to receive the chairman of NSCN (I-M) Isak Chishi Swu and the general secretary of GPRN\/NSCN Kitovi Zhimomi. Elaborate security arrangements were being made for the entry and exit of the high profile leaders of the groups attending the Tuluni celebrations in Zunheboto. The Sumi Hoho, the Tuluni hosts of the premier festival of the Sumi Nagas plans to make it the grandest ever, to be attended by Sumi legislators, elders, leaders of Sumi apex civil society groups and people from all walks of life. Meanwhile the Sumi Hoho today met in Zunheboto Tuesday and discussed the proposed visit of Isak Chishi Swu. Although details of the meetings were sketchy, the members present at the meeting were still hopeful that the NSCN (IM) chairman will be present on the historic occasion. This will also enable Isak Chishi Sumi to visit his native district after a gap of over 50 years. <\/p>\n
