K. Singh pointed out that Yoga was a valuable tradition of India and incorporating it into our lives would enable us to build a healthy lifestyle. He added that Yoga should be approached with an open mind and in an inclusive manner cutting across culture and continents. He acknowledged the contribution of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for playing a proactive role in making Yoga a global movement as the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution for observing International Day of Yoga on June 21 every year with effect from 2015. He also emphasized on the need to practise Yoga for keeping the youth healthy and positive minded to contribute to the process of nation building. He applauded deputy director of sports, Dr. Baljit Singh Sekhon, for coordinating the programme and taking the initiative for successful conduct of the 50-day long Yoga programme.<\/div>\n<div>Delivering a keynote address, finance officer professor, M. K. Sinha, highlighted the different layers of human existence, saying that Yoga enables one to unite body, soul, mind, consciousness and faith. Dean, Research, Development and Consultancy, professor S.K. Chaturvedi, and head of department Political Science, professor, H. John Sema, encouraged the members to approach Yoga with a broad outlook and embrace it as part of their life.<\/div>\n<div>All the speakers focussed on segregating yoga from the religious connotation of Hinduism and making Yoga an \u201call faith art\u201d of living.
