{"id":107790,"date":"2018-03-27T22:48:20","date_gmt":"2018-03-27T22:48:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2018\/03\/27\/actors-need-to-be-socially-responsible-boman-irani\/"},"modified":"2018-03-27T22:48:20","modified_gmt":"2018-03-27T22:48:20","slug":"actors-need-to-be-socially-responsible-boman-irani","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2018\/03\/27\/actors-need-to-be-socially-responsible-boman-irani\/","title":{"rendered":"Actors need to be socially responsible: Boman Irani"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/BGNRXFPGDWLRXFDAPFEI.jpg><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">In a nation where Bollywood and cricket are the biggest entertainment avenues for the common man, actors carry the onus of being socially responsible, says Boman Irani, known for exhilarating performances in films like \u201cMunna Bhai MBBS\u201d and \u201c3 Idiots\u201d, among others.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">The 58-year-old actor, who entered Hindi films after he turned 40 &#8212; as an \u201coutsider\u201d, from English theatre &#8212; but successfully cast a spell of joy on Indian audiences by crafting such memorable characters as Dr. Asthana (in \u201cMunna Bhai\u2026\u201d) and Prof Viru Sahastrabuddhe (\u201c3 Idiots\u201d), believes that it is important to be happy and make people smile.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">\u201cSome people may find the films that I do senseless cinema; but I am okay with it as long as people have a good laugh and they get their money\u2019s worth,\u201d the \u201cJolly LLB\u201d actor, who continues to adhere to the \u201ctheatre discipline\u201d of rehearsal to endow credibility to the roles he essays, told IANS.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">Boman is now looking forward to the release of \u201cJhalki\u201d &#8212; in which he plays the Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi &#8212; which takes a deep plunge into the socially relevant issues of child labour and exploitation.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">So moved was the \u201cKhosla Ka Ghosla\u201d actor by the subject that he said yes to the role in a matter of 10 minutes &#8212; unusual for someone who generally does not rush into the roles he is offered.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">\u201cWhen it came to this particular film, I truly felt that child labour is an issue that we do not address strongly. So I agreed to do the film in a matter of 10 minutes,\u201d said the actor who has plays like \u201cFamily Ties\u201d, \u201cMahatma vs Gandhi\u201d and \u201cI Am Not Bajirao\u201d to his credit.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">\u201cThis film gave me an opportunity to talk about Satyarthi. I agreed to do it because we have to honour crusaders like him,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">Boman, who has also dabbled with regional language films, especially Marathi and Telugu, feels that actors need to be responsible not only in choosing roles for films and plays, but also in endorsing brands.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">\u201cI think whether you are doing a play, movie or an ad film &#8212; you are eventually playing a character.
