The MIP said the occasion was not only for celebration but an opportunity for all distinguished Sumi leaders to come together in strengthening the common vision of the Nagas. It said \u201ca strong Sumi society will an asset to the common vision of the Nagas\u201d and pointed that \u201c Sumi people and Indo-Naga political struggle will forever be synonymous with each other.\u201d<br \/>\nMIP said Naga history acknowledged the crucial role played by Sumis in battling \u201cthe overwhelming military might of India\u201d. It also said  Sumis can play \u201ca positive role\u201din both peace and war. MIP said as the FNR was \u201cwaging for peace in Naga homeland\u201d,  all Sumi frontal organizations, church, NGOs and elders would need great courage, to guide the Sumi people to tread the path of peace and unity in consonance with the wishes of the Naga people.<br \/>\nIt also recalled the speech made by its ato kilonser Kitovi Zhimomi on the July 8 Tuluni celebrations at Zunheboto, wherein he pointed that confusion among Sumis in the post-expulsion of Khaplang, was compounded by \u201cfew emotional and ambitious Sumis\u201dusing the name of Khaplang (whom it criticized for being oblivious to the happenings in Nagaland) \u201cto further their own interests\u201d.
