NSCN (I-M) Monday denied news report indicating that it was involved in the killing of three NSCN (K) cadres and two villagers at Haochong village, Tamenglong district, Manipur.<\/p>\n
In a statement, NSCN (I-M) MIP said the report was \u201ccompletely false and bereft of factual evidence\u201d.
\nTaking serious note of such \u201cunfounded and baseless allegation\u201d, MIP statement asked NSCN (K) to properly ascertain facts before going to the press and refrain doing the same in future. <\/p>\n
Stating that NSCN (K) cadres, on a number of occasions, had been trying the \u201cpatience\u201d of NSCN (I-M), MIP said that on January 2, 2008, while \u201cnational workers\u201d and Zeliangrong Elders Peace Brokers Forum (ZEPBF) were in the process of initiating a peaceful environment within Tamenglong district, NSCN (K) cadres attacked the \u201cNP Battalion, Naga Army\u201d at Buining village and on June 21, \u201csgt. major\u201d Athikho Mao was abducted and shot dead in cold blood by NSCN (K) cadres.<\/p>\n
Defying repeated pleas to go away from the village, MIP stated NSCN (K) cadres were \u201ccamping and partying at Haochong village with the so-called ZUF on that fateful day\u201d. <\/p>\n
Asserting that despite the provocations, NSCN (I-M) remained patient to safeguard the \u201cpeace process\u201d, MIP asked NSCN (K) cadres or \u201cother elements\u201d to be careful so as not to create an unwanted situation out of the Haochong killings. <\/p>\n
Stating that the incident was the outcome of \u201ca common habit of madmen fighting and killing out of drinking and quarrelling for a petty matter\u201d, MIP said that such \u201cunnecessary and shameful acts of deceitful group of people\u201d should be condemned by all. <\/p>\n
Reiterating that NSCN (I-M) had \u201cno hand in the Haochong killings\u201d, MIP also urged Assam Rifles (AR) to immediately stop harassing the its cadres and their families \u201cin connivance\u201d with NSCN (K) and ZUF in Tamenglong district. <\/p>\n
The statement reminded that AR should remember the \u201cbitter days in Nagalim\u201d in the past and also to \u201cremember that they too have families or loved ones\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
