Development Association of Nagaland (DAN) imparted training on Tuberculosis (TB) under project \u201cAxshya\u201d to the community volunteers under Mokokchung and Tuensang villages from June 18-20.<\/p>\n
The training was organized under the global fund to fight tuberculosis round-IX (TB project) with Dr. Chuba, DTO Mokokchung as the resource person.<\/p>\n
Kyupise Sangtam, District Coordinator, Mokokchung & Tuensang stated that C.Vs were given through training, especially basics on TB, ACSM activities, referrals and transportation of sputum to different DMCs for quality and increase in new case detection and retrieval of defaulters patients.<\/p>\n
The participants were also given clear concept on Project Axshya on tuberculosis, myths and misconception related to TB, stigma and discrimination attached to TB-HIV Patients, its treatment, prevention and social mobilization strategy and involvement of CBOs, civil societies towards the TB cause and activities like sputum collection, transportation and retrieval of defaulter\u2019s cases were trained by the DTO.<\/p>\n
More than 40 volunteers attended the intensive training. The community volunteers were identified at the community meetings conducted under project Axshya by different local mother NGOs in two districts at various village levels for which they would be implemented the project Axshya in respective villages to breach the reach and visibilities of RNTCP and the Millennium Development Goals 2015 with their active initiatives voluntarily.<\/p>\n
At the end of the training, all the volunteers were given IECs, sputum cups and referral forms so they can perform voluntarily referrals, sputum transportation which project Axshya will give incentives for their activity.<\/p>\n
