Western Sumi Hoho Tuesday announced that it has agreed to keep in abeyance its decision to remove \u201cwar gates\u201d at Beisumpuikam village by July 27 for an indefinite period following the state government\u2019s assurance that it would initiate action to remove the gates.
\n  WSH president L. K. Achumi and secretary Vikato Shikhu said the consultative meeting was held with state government representative Azheto Zhimomi MLA & Advisor Sericulture and Cooperation and the hoho   at its office, Chekiye village July 26.
\nThe meeting discussed issues related with the WSH\u2019s  resolution to remove \u2018war gate\u2019 at Beisumpuikam village on or before July 27 following government\u2019s failure to act within 15 days from July 3 on its 6-point demand.
\nDuring the meeting, the hoho said Azheto Zhimomi MLA & advisor sericulture and cooperation   who represented state government, asked the hoho to withdraw its resolution to remove \u201cWar Gates\u201d at Beisumpuikam. The signatories said Azheto assured the hoho that the  government would initiate action to remove the gates. In view of the assurances made by the government representative, WSH said it \u201cunanimously agreed\u201d to keep in abeyance its decision to remove gates for an indefinite period of time.<\/p>\n

\nBeisumpuikam village council Tuesday vehemently opposed \u201cdefamatory remarks\u201d made by the Westren Sumi Hoho on the village gate.
\nBeisumpuikam village GB Sinlak Zeliang and council secretary Lungyibuing said they were \u201cgreatly concerned\u201d over the proposed march of \u201cSema tribesmen in thousands to demolish the village gate on July 27\u201d. They  said such a move would only \u201cinflate rivalry and create hostile conditions\u201d and pose a threat to sovereignty of Naga village system. They expressed hope that state government would uphold the \u201csanctity of our recognized village.\u201d
\nWhile maintaining that Western Sumi Hoho should accept the reality that Beisumpuikam was a recognized village, the signatories said WSH should not \u201ccompare us with Inavi encroachers.\u201d
\nThey asserted \u201cNtakgki is not in Zunheboto, it is Peren district and WSH has no right to interfere in the Zeliangrong areas.\u201d  They also affirmed that only Beisumpuikam had the rights to protect the Ntangki national park from \u201call illegal activities and encroachments.\u201d They further demanded that all those  accused in the May 28 shooting on Beisumpuikam villagers be arrested.
\nThe signatories reminded that the tolerance and peaceful attitude exhibited by the village council of Beisumpuikam  \u201cshould not be taken for granted.\u201d
\n\u201cRepute of the intellectual Semas who has a standing and respect in the Naga society should not be put to stake in the hasty decisions to justify the illegal activities of a handful of men,\u201d they said.
\nThey also maintained that there should be no dispute  or confusion on village gate, as it was the sentinel of the Naga customs in Beisumpuikam. The signatories also said that  WSH, as a part of Naga fraternity, should have been courteousy to show respect to the customs.
\nMeanwhile,  Beisumpuikam has requested all to also maintain restrain in the manner in which they addressed Beisumpuikam villagers adding,  as it would amount to insulting the whole Zeliangrongs. They  said the village was \u201cspell bound to protect and safeguard Ntangki national park in any cost.\u201d<\/p>\n
