Through this system 30 percent more yields is obtained over traditional practices she explained.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">In the second technical session, ACTO KVK, Michael Pienyu discussed the topic Integrated Pest Management (IPM). Successful IPM\u2019s combine several methods such as cultural, mechanical, biological and chemical use. The programme was followed by an interaction session. Altogether 37 farmers participated along with ATMA and KVK staff.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">Wokha: A one day training on Techniques of Mushroom Cultivation for Self Help Groups (SHGs) under Women in Agriculture was conducted by Department of Agriculture, Wokha on April 5 at DAO Office Conference Hall, Wokha with SMS (KVK) Wokha, Dr. Mhalo Tungoe as the resource person.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">In a press release Wokha District Agriculture Officer (DAO) stated that the training was organized with an aim to provide employment for women and help them generate income for their families.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">In the training, the resource person gave a brief presentation and demonstration on how to cultivate oyster mushrooms. According to her, these provide for both nutritional security and income generation.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">The SHG members were given hands on participation on cultivation techniques of mushrooms.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">She also encouraged SHG\u2019s to cultivate Oyster mushroom as a sustainable source of income from among the available species of mushrooms because Oyster Mushrooms were adaptable to the Wokha climatic conditions, easy to cultivate, has a short harvest duration, high productivity, long shelf life and a is rich source of nutrition for both vegetarians and non vegetarians. Besides these, it is in high demand in the market.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">The training programme was chaired by SDAO Wokha, Rosemary Ezung. Altogether, 10 SHG members and 4 officials participated in the training and the programme concluded with a word of thanks by AFA, Thechano J.
