Muivah Monday disclosed that both the parties were confident of working out a settlement to the Naga political problem, in the \u201cshortest possible time\u201d.<br \/>\nA joint statement signed by Pandey and Muivah admitted that while differences between the two parties have narrowed, some of the proposals would require further negotiations to reach a mutually acceptable solution.<br \/>\n\u201cSustained negotiations over the past few months have led to a set of proposals for an honourable political settlement based on the uniqueness of Naga history and situation which was recognized by the government of India in 2002 as well as the contemporary realities and a future vision consistent with the imperatives of the 21st century\u201d, the statement said.<br \/>\n\u201cBy appreciating and respecting each other\u2019s position and difficulties, both the parties are confident of working out a settlement in the shortest possible time\u201d the statement said.<br \/>\nAdds PTI: Sources said the proposed peace deal ruled out the NSCN\u2019s demand for unification of Naga inhabited areas and would give territorial guarantee of Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.<\/p>\n<div style=\"background:#b4acac;width:640px; margin:5px;\">\nTh. The Naga group has been holding parleys with Pandey to iron out differences on several vexed issues.<br \/>\nThe NSCN (I-M) has proposed a federal relationship with the Centre with additional financial and legislative powers while the government offered financial package for socio- cultural development of Naga people. <br \/>\nThe government of India team was led Centre\u2019s Interlocutor RS Pandey and NSCN (I-M) led by chief negotiator, general secretary Th.
