\nA joint statement issued here Friday by the FNR and Burma Nagas said during the three-day meeting at a \u201cneutral venue\u201d, the delegates shared views and engaged in \u201cconstructive dialogue\u201d to ensure that the reconciliation process would move forward.
\nWhile reaffirming that no one would be left out of the reconciliation process, the statement said the house decided to implore Naga political groups to honor the \u2018Covenant of Reconciliation\u2019 and to remain committed to addressing all outstanding issues through mutual respect and understanding, and by using non-violent means.
\nThe statement said the delegates also acknowledged the necessity to understand and appreciate each other\u2019s distinct \u201crealities and difficulties,\u201d adding that due to difficulties in communication, suspicions were aroused and mistakes were unintentionally committed, causing Nagas to hurt each other and damage relationships. Delegates further conceded urgent need for \u201cforgiveness, healing and reconciliation\u201d towards repairing broken relationships between Naga leaders, as well as among the Naga public in all \u201cNaga-Lands\u201d. They also acknowledged that wholeness of the Naga historical and political rights was possible with mutual acceptance and respect of Nagas in Burma.
\nFurthermore, Naga Churches and Naga people in Burma affirmed their fullest support to \u2018Naga Reconciliation: A Journey of Common Hope\u2019, with particular reference to the \u2018Covenant of Reconciliation\u2019, and the significance of the landmark resolution on Naga Reconciliation process adopted by the General Council of the Baptist World Alliance at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia July last.
\n\u201cWe need to respond to this global trust put on the Nagas and demonstrate to the world that Nagas can indeed transcend our differences and reconcile with each other for the common good of all,\u201d the statement said.
\nIn connection with this, delegates at the meeting had resolved to strengthen and take forward the reconciliation process on the basis of historical and political rights affirming their commitment that \u201cthere is no turning back.\u201d
\nThey also decided to implore Naga political groups to honor the \u201cCovenant of Reconciliation\u201d and to remain committed to addressing all outstanding issues through mutual respect and understanding, and by using non-violent means.
\nAsserting that Naga reconciliation was neither selective nor about merging, the statement said it rather stood for mutual respect and acceptance in \u201crebuilding the wholeness\u201d of the Naga people.<\/p>\n
