Jamir, Mrs. Takatula passed away on Saturday after a brief illness. She was 103.<\/div>\n<div>A short funeral service was held at Dimapur and the body was later taken to her native village, Ungma where she would be buried on Sunday afternoon.<\/div>\n<div>CM: Nagaland chief minister T.R. Zeliang has expressed deep grief at the sad demise of Mrs Takatula on March 12 in Dimapur and said \u201chers was a saintly life and all those who met her or knew her spoke highly of her Christian values.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>In a condolence message to Dr. S.C. Jamir, Governor of Odisha, the chief minister T.R. Zeliang recalled that ever since he entered into public life, he had always seen her as a grand old lady who never seemed to suffer from any physical ailment despite her age.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Daughter of head dobashi Likokyangba, Takatula\u2019s marriage with Senayangba was propitious considering the fact that Senayangba\u2019s grandfather Jongshinokdang, was the person who invited Rev EW Clark to Ungma village thereby, playing a historic role in propagating Christianity in these parts of the world, said the chief minister.<\/div>\n<div>Further, the chief minister said that she was also one of the last of the early Naga Christians, who, unlike modern day Christians who were more obsessed with materialism and wealth, lived in righteousness and showed love, compassion and kindness towards all human beings.<\/div>\n<div>The chief minister, on behalf of the people of Nagaland, joined the bereaved family in this hour of grief and prayed to the Almighty to grant them solace and comfort. He also prayed that the departed soul rest in eternal peace.<\/div>\n<div>Neiphiu Rio: Expressing sadness at the demise of late Mrs. Takatula, MP (Lok Sabha) and former chief minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio said she must have been a woman of firm character and enormous strength.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>In his condolence message to S.C. Jamir, Governor of Odisha, Rio said she belonged to an era which was perhaps one of the most difficult and challenging period in \u201cour history and we can say with clear confidence that she has come out with flying colours.\u201d The MP said she epitomized an ideal mother and role model for \u201cour society.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>Stating that \u201cwe cannot imagine the challenges\u201d she would have faced and overcome to bring up and groom her children and grandchildren who have become nation builders, Rio said \u201cour society must appreciate and acknowledge her contribution which are significant and path breaking.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>Conveying deepest condolences to all the members of the bereaved family, Rio prayed to Almighty God to let her soul rest in eternal peace.<\/div>\n<div>C.L. John: Minister for RD &amp; REPA, C.L. John expressed deep shock over the sudden demise of late Takatula, on March 12 in Dimapur and said though her death has created a vacuum, which cannot be filled by anything, yet her life and contribution needed to be celebrated with gratefulness to God for her life and with prayer.<\/div>\n<div>In a condolence message, C.L. John described late Takatula as \u201cwonderful woman of God\u201d and said during her 103 life span she proved herself to be sincere, responsible, hardworking and a truly committed mother by raising and nurturing sons like Dr. S.C. Jamir and Imtisungit Jamir, who rose to be prominent and worthy leaders of the state, and even grandchildren C. Apok Jamir, then Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and present parliamentary secretary, Tourism, and C. Asenla Jamir, director SIRD.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>John while sharing his deepest sorrow and sympathy with the bereaved family in this hour of grief, prayed to Almighty God to grant peace and solace to the departed soul.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Dr. Benjongliba: Parliamentary secretary for agriculture, Dr. Benjongliba Aier expressed shock at the demise of late Tekatula and said her demise was a great loss for the community. In his condolence message, Dr. Benjongliba Aier also described late Tekatula as a sincere, honest and hard working woman, who gave birth to great leaders to lead \u201cour people\u201d.<\/div>\n<div>He said that the selfless contribution of late Tekatula for the uplift of the Ao community and the Nagas in general would always be remembered with outmost pride.<\/div>\n<div>Dr. Aier extended heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mother of Dr. SC Jamir Governor of Odisha and Advisor Urban Development S.I.
