{"id":114480,"date":"2016-02-19T00:53:59","date_gmt":"2016-02-19T00:53:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2016\/02\/19\/akmwp-files-rti-on-allotment-of-flats-under-bsup\/"},"modified":"2016-02-19T00:53:59","modified_gmt":"2016-02-19T00:53:59","slug":"akmwp-files-rti-on-allotment-of-flats-under-bsup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2016\/02\/19\/akmwp-files-rti-on-allotment-of-flats-under-bsup\/","title":{"rendered":"AKMWP files RTI on allotment of flats under BSUP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/><\/p>\n<div>Association of Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayat (AKMWP) has filed an application under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005 with the directorate of municipal affairs seeking information with regard to Basic Services for the Urban Poor (BSUP) flats particularly the 720 flats completed at K.Badze, Kohima.<\/div>\n<div>In an application submitted to the public information officer (PIO), directorate of municipal affairs, the AKMWP president Neibulie Kiewhuo, general secretary Thejao Sekhose and joint secretary &amp; legal advisor Hukato Chishi stated that the association was seeking information so as to secure the interests of the citizens of Kohima, promote transparency and prevent the project \u201cfrom being hijacked for the benefit of certain vested interests.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>The application stated that 720 completed flats at K.Badze, Kohima was secured with lock and keys by the Directorate of Municipal Affairs (DMA) Nagaland pending proper allocation and handing over the flats to the selected beneficiaries. The project aims to provide shelter to the urban poor.<\/div>\n<div>It stated that the department to ensure the judicious selection of beneficiaries had set up nomination committees for each of the 19 wards under the municipality of Kohima.<\/div>\n<div>AKMWP said certain guidelines were also laid down, inter alia, take into confidence the Panchayats\/ local bodies of the respective wards; assess the economic and other conditions of the beneficiaries and forward the specified number of deserving beneficiaries from the ward.<\/div>\n<div>However, AKMWP said on February 15, 2016 it learnt that many locks were illegally forced open and around 200 of the total 720 BSUP flats were found occupied by private individuals.<\/div>\n<div>It said the occupants claimed to have deposited a sum of Rs, 50,000 per flat with the additional director DMA and thereafter proceeded to break open the locks and occupy the flats.<\/div>\n<div>According to AKMWP, certain individuals claimed multiple flats having deposited for multiple units.<\/div>\n<div>In the light of the above, the association requested the department to provide the total number of locks broken and the number of flats being occupied and or claimed.<\/div>\n<div>It also sought a complete list of beneficiaries selected and forwarded to the DMA by each of the ward nomination committees; list of all occupants, as on February 15, 2016 their details and if the names of each occupant\/claimant were the duly selected beneficiaries forwarded to the deptt. by the nomination committees of each ward.<\/div>\n<div>The application has further asked why were the occupants made to deposit a sum of Rs,50,000 with the addl. director DMA.<\/div>\n<div>It asked if the addl. director and HoD of DMA permitted the breaking of locks and occupation of the flats despite the keys being in the custody of the department?<\/div>\n<div>In its application, the association whether the occupants were issued proper allotment orders and if not, were the illegal occupants evicted or steps taken to cause their eviction?&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Besides other queries, AKMWP has sought details of all individual beneficiaries who were permitted to deposit for multiple flats and multiple allotments made.<\/div>\n<div>Stating that it would continue to fight such malpractices and expose the powers that may be behind the brazen perpetuation of such conditions, AKMWP asked \u201cwill the deptt. assure its utmost cooperation by way of prompt response to these queries?\u201d<\/div>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Association of Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayat (AKMWP) has filed an application under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005 with the directorate of municipal affairs seeking information with regard to Basic Services for the Urban Poor (BSUP) flats particularly the 720 flats completed at K.Badze, Kohima.
