\nIn a letter addressed to the new director of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement Brig K.K. Roy Choudhury, a copy of which was released by Raj Bhavan, Kohima Gen. Rao congratulated Brig K.K. Roy Choudhury on his new assignment through which Brig Choudhury could do a lot to help the people of Nagaland. Brig K.K. Roy Choudhury, served as ADC to Gen. (retd)K. V. Krishna Rao when he was the governor of Nagaland.
\n\u201cWhile the Nagas did well as part of Assam regiment for many years, their performance in the Naga regiment which we specially raised has been remarkable. Both the serving and retired personnel certainly need due attention and care by the Nagaland government, as well as Center,\u201d the letter quoted Rao as saying.
\nThe former governor also conveyed his warm regards to the many political leaders, members of the administration and other people who he was sure continued to remember him.
\n\u201cMy best wishes are always with the people of Nagaland,\u201d he said.
\nGeneral (Retd) K. V. Krishna Rao, born July 16, 1923, is the former Chief of Indian Army and a former governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Nagaland, Manipur and Tripura.
\nKrishna Rao, who was sworn in as governor of Nagaland on June 13, 1984, among many initiatives taken up while in office as governor of Nagaland, had prevailed upon the home minister and the prime minister to obtain approval of the central government for the setting up of the Nagaland University.
\nThe then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi laid the foundation stone of the University at Lumami on October 5, 1987. The Governor was also instrumental in getting the North East Zone Culture center (NEZCC) established in Dimapur.
\nNagaland also celebrated the silver jubilee of the statehood on December 1, 1987 in the august presence of the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
