teachers or promoters in the fields of art, music and literature in the state, Governor\u2019s Award for distinction in art, music and literature 2015, was conferred to T Yanger Ozukum in the field of art (painting), Along Konyak in the field of art (handicraft) and Alobo Naga in the field of music, by Nagaland Governor, P B Acharya at a ceremony preceding the \u201cAt Home\u201d function at Durbar hall Raj Bhavan on Tuesday.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Speaking as the patron in chief, Acharya said the Governor\u2019s award was a good initiative and had truly motivated artistes, musicians and writers to a great extent.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Underlining the works of the three recipients, Acharya opined that the paintings of Yanger Ozukum reflected the thought and mind of Naga youth and social life, while the art and crafts exhibited by Along Konyak showed the depth of his talent and richness of Nagaland\u2019s crafts.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>He also said that the talent in the field of music has been beautifully manifested by the \u201clovely performance\u201d of Alobo Naga, who is a proud youth for not only Nagas but for the country.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>While congratulating the award recipients, Acharya hoped that others would also continue to excel in their respective field and continue to be role models for the youth and strengthen the social unity.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>The Governor gave away awards to the recipients that included certificate, a memento, a shawl and a cheque worth Rs. 1 Lakh each.<\/div>\n<div>Delivering a short speech, chief minister, TR Zeliang apprised that folk arts, music and folklore have been an intrinsic part of Naga Culture and with the dawn of Christianity in the Naga Hills came with formal English education and subsequently, the influence of the western music, arts and literature in the Naga way of life.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>He said that this cultural fusion has enriched the Nagas and today Naga people are bringing, accolades in these various fields.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Informing that in order to bring about an organized and structured manner of honing young talents in the state, Zeliang pointed out that the state government started institutions such as the Music Task Force (MTF) and the Regional Centre of Excellence for Music and Performing Arts (RCEMPA) at Jotsoma and Governor\u2019s award for DAML since 2003 and many other initiatives.<\/div>\n<div>He said that it is rewarding to see that Music Industry in Nagaland has improved substantially in the last decade.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Zeliang also lauded the poet, novelist and children\u2019s writer from Nagaland, Easterine Kire for winning the Hindu Prize 2015 for her novel \u201cwhen the river sleeps\u201d.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>He also congratulated the recipients of the Governor\u2019s award 2015 and hopped that the award would encourage in striving towards higher levels of excellence at the national and international level.<\/div>\n<div>Art and culture director Vevo Sapuh, gave a highlight about the Governor\u2019s Award and informed that the three recipients this year were the 13th batch of artists, bringing the total number of recipients to 61 since its inception in 2003. &nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>While delivering vote of thanks, chief secretary, Pankaj Kumar hoped that recipient of Governor\u2019s award in the field of literature would come up, as there
