Why is it that when two women do a film together, there\u2019s talk of catfights, but when two men work together, there\u2019s bromance?\u2019 This is a question actor Priyanka Chopra has often asked, and she is forced to bring it up once again as people quiz her about comparisons with Bajirao Mastani co-star Deepika Padukone.\n\u201cI think it is a stereotype that has been created. It\u2019s true sometimes that two people cannot get along. But you can\u2019t generalise. It\u2019s the same thing as saying models can\u2019t act. I had to deal with that for so many years of my career. But breaking stereotypes is something that I enjoy and have been doing all along,\u201d she says.
\nThe 33-year-old, who has been a part of many two heroine films such as Aitraaz (2004), Fashion (2008) and Dil Dhadakne Do, says that she has never taken these comparisons seriously.
\n\u201cComparisons are bound to happen. It has happened to me all my life. I have done so many two heroine films and I just ignore it. It\u2019s not a big deal. When the film wins, everyone wins,\u201d she says.
\nThere was no question of any trouble in her equation with Deepika because of these comparisons, as their association goes back a long way. \u201cDeepika and I get along really well. I have known her from before she became an actor and for a tough song like Pinga, she was the best partner I could have asked for,\u201d she says.
\nPriyanka adds that not just Deepika, she gets along well with most of her female co-stars. \u201cMy career has never been dependent on the success or failure of anyone else. I have made my own choices and it has been very solitary for me. I have friends in the film industry who have been wonderful and have supported me,\u201d she says.
\nTaking time off from her busy schedule, Priyanka is now heading for a vacation to ring in the New Year. \u201cI am going to an undisclosed location to spend time with myself. I plan to sleep and sleep,\u201d she laughs.<\/p>\n
