{"id":118075,"date":"2012-07-17T01:00:47","date_gmt":"2012-07-17T01:00:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2012\/07\/17\/monitoring-mdm-on-real-time-basis\/"},"modified":"2012-07-17T01:00:47","modified_gmt":"2012-07-17T01:00:47","slug":"monitoring-mdm-on-real-time-basis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2012\/07\/17\/monitoring-mdm-on-real-time-basis\/","title":{"rendered":"Monitoring MDM on real time basis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/QZOVCKQGNUIPMDINTKDB.jpg>The National Program of Nutritional Support to Primary Education (NP-NSPE) known as Mid-Day Meal (MDM) to schools will now be monitored on real time basis with development of web portal by the ministry of human resource development (MHRD).<\/p>\n<p>According to an MHRD document, this web portal is now ready for feeding the data and in this connection, an orientation workshop on Management Information System (MIS) web portal with 23 states and Union Territories (UTs) was organized on April 26, 2012 in New Delhi. <\/p>\n<p>Also, in order to facilitate the states\/UTs for feeding master data into the portal, a cideo conference session was held in all these states and UTs in the month of June 2012, the document informed.<\/p>\n<p>In Nagaland, a two day state level training on MIS was held on July 11 and 12 at the directorate of school education with Rishi Sirohi, an official from the MHRD as the resource person. The training was conducted for the district education officers (DEOs) and computer assistants.<\/p>\n<p>According to commissioner &amp; secretary school education and SCERT T. Imkonglemba, with the opening up of the web portal, the state\u2019s implementation of MDM will now be directly monitored by the MDM division, department of school education &amp; literacy, MHRD. <\/p>\n<p>Imkonglemba said the training would equip the concerned officers of the department towards efficient and proper implementation of the scheme.<\/p>\n<p>The commissioner &amp; secretary hoped that the village education committees and local bodies would assist in the proper execution of the scheme that is meant to boost Universalization of Elementary Education (UEE).<\/p>\n<p>The MDM scheme is being implemented in Nagaland since November,1995. The programme is to give a boost to the UEE by increasing enrolment, retention, attendance and simultaneously improve the nutritional status of children studying in Class I to Class V. <\/p>\n<p>The scheme has also been extended to Upper Primary stage (Class VI-VIII) to all areas in the country during 2008-09.<\/p>\n<p>According to the department of school education\u2019s latest annual report, during 2011-12, PAB had approved an outlay of Rs 2464.37 lakhs for cost of food grains, cooking costs, cooks honorarium, MME. Providing kitchen devices to 17 schools have been also approved. <\/p>\n<p>Releases of fund for transport cost, kitchen-cum-store, kitchen-devices would be issued separately by GOI. The full amount of Rs.2464.37 lakhs as approved by PAB have been released by Government of India. <\/p>\n<p>The state\u2019s share 0f 10% amounting to Rs.54.97 lakhs against the ad-hoc release of GOI has been already been released.. GOI has allocated 6645.82 MTs of rice during 2011-12, out which 5049.59 MTs have been lifted till end of 3rd quarter. Payment for the cost of food grains for the 1st and 2nd Quarter amounting to Rs.195.12 lakhs had been made to the FCI, Dimapur.<\/p>\n<p>The department has also conducted sensitization programs with the DISs very often and productive feed backs have been received during the conduct of such programs. <\/p>\n<p>There is already a constituted State Level Steering -cum-Monitoring Committee, headed by the Chief Secretary to oversee the effective implementation, management and monitoring of the MDM scheme. <\/p>\n<p>So also, there is a constituted District Level Steering -cum- Monitoring Committee headed by the Deputy Commissioner of the concerned districts.
