On receiving information about the incident, a group of media persons visited the spot on Wednesday and found that oil spill has badly affected terraced rice fields located below the NH-29.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>One of the paddy filed owners said the oil was suspected to have been spilled intentionally by some depot owners involved oil sell adulteration racket busted by ACAUT. He maintained that those responsible must have spilled oil for fear of being caught.<\/div>\n<div>Though exact date of oil spill could not be ascertained, the farmers said they came to know on July 9.<\/div>\n<div>According to farmers, at least six families, whose livelihood depended entirely on agriculture, have been affected by this incident. Rice was planted a few weeks ago.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Another paddy field owner, Razouneikho Nakhro, expressed pain that the effort of his family had been destroyed by the act of some \u2018irresponsible citizens\u2019.<\/div>\n<div>The farmers said they have intimated the district administration about the incident by submitting a complaint letter along with photographs to the SDO (Civil), Sech\u00fc circle on July 11. They have also filed an FIR with Sech\u00fc Zubza Police Station on Wednesday.<\/div>\n<div>All from Jotsoma village, the affected farmers are&#8211; Thekrunguto Medoze, Kokehesie Suokhrie, Kosievito Nisa, Viliebeinyu Nakhro, Sedevilie Gwirie and Razouneikho Nakhro.<\/div>\n<div>Meanwhile, the Western Angami Youth Organization (WAYO) has condemned the \u2018irresponsible action\u2019 that occurred within its jurisdiction. It irresponsible citizens have intentionally spilled the oil knowing that there were paddy fields below the highway.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>WAYO president Neidilhoutuo Sech\u00fc and vice president Neizevolie Nakhro said strong action would be taken against the perpetrator (s) once caught. The organisation has requested the district administration and disaster management authority to visit the affected paddy fields and grant relief accordingly.
