{"id":118503,"date":"2014-04-08T01:12:12","date_gmt":"2014-04-08T01:12:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2014\/04\/08\/congress-concludes-ls-campaign\/"},"modified":"2014-04-08T01:12:12","modified_gmt":"2014-04-08T01:12:12","slug":"congress-concludes-ls-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2014\/04\/08\/congress-concludes-ls-campaign\/","title":{"rendered":"Congress concludes LS campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/>Campaigning on the last day before the deadline , Congress candidate K.V.Pusa Monday reiterated that the Lok Sabha election this year, was a contest between two visions of India- one a secular and inclusive, represented by the Congress and a theocratic, majoritarian and communal vision, represented by the BJP and its allies.<br \/>\nAddressing a rally at PWD Colony here, Pusa said governments all over the world, felt that if BJP came to power, minorities in India will face the brunt of a uniform civil code and Hindutva. He therefore, appealed to people in Nagaland to cut across party line and come together to defeat communal forces. <br \/>\nPusa said the BJP could not release its manifesto till the day when states in north east went to the polls. He also said electorate in Nagaland have to know what was the agenda of the NPF, which was yet to release its manifesto. <br \/>\nHe highlighted some of the points in the Congress manifesto such as- health pension, free housing scheme, ten crore jobs for the educated unemployed youth,a national youth policy, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan to create 70 new universities, easy loan up to Rs.1 lakh for women etc.<br \/>\nPusa pulled up the NPF-led DAN government for alleged rampant corruption and for emptying the state coffer at the cost of the common people. He also cited RTI documents that highlighted how MPs of NPF siphoned off MPLADP adding NPF was yet to react to the report. Pusa assured he would adopt inclusive growth unlike the NPF\u2019s exclusive growth which, he said, widened the gap between haves and haves not. He promised equal distribution of funds for development with impetus for women, youths and people in rural areas.<br \/>\nHe said Nagaland has never witnessed a corrupt government like NPF which has taken the state backward. Pusa said the coming election was a fight between money power and people. <br \/>\nTokheho: CLP leader Tokheho, who addressed party workers in Bamunpukhri under 3 Dimapur-III termed it as \u201c a farce\u201d NPF claims that Rio was contesting for the Lok Sabha to play a bigger role at the Centre for Naga political issue. He said NPF claim of taking initiatives for resolving the Naga political issue was only to prolong it so as to remain in power.The CLP leader asserted that the chief minister was trying to run away to avoid the mess he created during the past 11 years and social unrest emerged due to the wrong policy of NPF.<br \/>\nHe said rampant illegal taxations have spread since the NPF-led DAN came to power which pushed up prices of every essential commodity in the market to the misery of the poor people.<br \/>\nTokheho alleged that DAN government \u201chas been doing business\u201d for the past 11 years where kith and kin became contractors. He pointed out enhancement of work orders such as construction of banquet hall in Raj Bhavan from Rs.161.27 lakhs to Rs.1070 lakhs including Sovima cricket ground from Rs.829.46 lakh to Rs.7259 lakhs. He termed DAN government as \u201c a merry making government\u201d where NPF\u2019s achievements in the 11 years were hornbill festival and road shows.He also 11 years of DAN has created two classes of people- haves and haves not. <br \/>\nTokheho also asserted that the UPA government has been generously sanctioning thousands of crore rupees but the funds were siphoned off by the party in power and did not each the people. <br \/>\nHe said under MGNREGA, Nagaladn received more than Rs.700 cr each year under which a job card holder was entitled to get 100 days of wages in a year at the rate of Rs.135 per day and for 100 days, a card holder is to get Rs.13,500 each year.However, he said the beneficiaries were not getting what was due to them.<br \/>\nUnder Public Distribution System(PDS), he said the Centre sanctioned distribution of rice, wheat, levy sugar, iodized salt and kerosene where each Below Poverty Line(BPL)card holder was to get 35 kgs rice at Rs.6.25\/ Rs. 6.15 , AAY card holder entitled 35 kgs of rice\/wheat at Rs.3 to Rs.2 per kg a month; APL card holders entitled 35 kgs of rice\/wheat at Rs.8.30\/Rs.6.10 per kg monthly and free ration of 10 kgs under Annapurna above 65 years covered under NOPS.<br \/>\nTokheho said under National Rural Health Mission(NRHM), hundreds of crore rupees were sanctioned every year but funds did not reach those in need. He said under SSA &amp; RMSA hundreds of crore rupees were sanctioned for universalisation of education. Further, he said the Centre provided free text books, uniform and mid-day meal schemes for students up to Class VIII but these have not been implemented properly or were misused. He said the Centre sanctioned a total of Rs.21665.89 lakh for 2008-09 to 2011-12 under SSA but the amount utilised district-wise was only Rs.3419.230 lakh.
