State chief minister T.R. Zeliang has expressed appreciation to the Catholic Church for their great contribution towards education in Nagaland. Speaking at the Golden Jubilee of All Saints Higher Secondary School (ASHSS), Peren on November 21, Zeliang congratulated the pioneers and faculty of ASHSS for their contribution towards the school. According to Media Cell, CMO, the chief minister said the school has done invaluable service to the people of Peren district, having nurtured and moulded many students to become successful citizens. <\/div>\n
Further, chief minister said many important people working in various fields within and outside the state were products of ASHSS.<\/div>\n
Encouraging the principal and staff, Zeliang urged them to remember that service to humanity was service to God. He expressed hope that the school would continue the good work and help parents in giving the \u201cbest gift\u201d they could give to their children.<\/div>\n
Recalling the memories with his wife who was also an alumnus, Zeliang said \u201cthis school is our real alma mater, with which we are linked umbilically and emotionally.\u201d<\/div>\n
Earlier, the chief minister inaugurated the golden jubilee memorial block, golden jubilee memorial monolith and mini multi utility complex. He was accompanied by minister for PHED Tokheho. <\/div>\n
The programme was attended by district administration, HoDs, public leaders, church leaders from Peren, alumni, parents and students.<\/div>\n
Uphold indigenous culture: Zeliang<\/span><\/div>\n
State chief minister T.R Zeliang while maintaining that villages co-existed peacefully in the past because of vital role played by tradition on the lives of the villagers has called for upholding and preserving \u201cour good culture and traditions even in this generation.\u201d Addressing the inaugural of Mpai Namci village, Peren on November 21, the chief minister said \u201cour forefather needed no administrative control from outside but our indigenous cultures and traditions were enough to take care of our village and inter village relationship smoothly and peacefully\u201d.<\/div>\n
According to a DIPR report, the chief minister congratulated the village functionaries for withstanding so many hurdles since 1964 after establishment of the village. He said that the villagers could finally see the light of day following the recognition and inauguration. He encouraged the villagers and said cooperation amongst villagers was the needed for all round development. Mpai Namci village, Peren was recognized by the state government on October 14, 2014. The village was established in 1964 because Christianity was not allowed in old Mapi.<\/div>\n
