The Countess of Wessex has hired a personal trainer to help her keep up with the younger members of the Royal Family. Prince Edward\u2019s 46-year-old wife has undertaken gruelling sessions at their home in Bagshot, Surrey, to regain her svelte figure. \u2018Sophie is working out regularly and is in great shape,\u2019 says a friend.  \u2018She feels she has to keep up with Kate and the young Princesses and she doesn\u2019t want to be ruled out as a middle-aged Royal just yet.\u2019 Sophie suffered a fall while out horse riding in April, breaking a rib in the process. Ordered to take it easy, the Countess was upset to find she gained some weight and, once recovered, she contacted a personal trainer to visit her at home. \u2018She goes out most days to train at Bagshot where they have 90 acres of land,\u2019 says the friend. And the stylish Countess revealed that the hard work has had an instant impact when she showed off her trim and toned figure in a Bruce Oldfield outfit at last week\u2019s Derby.  It proved that despite the glamorous new addition to the Royal Family, she is still a leading light in the fashion stakes. A friend said: \u2018It\u2019s a real change. Sophie used to be unconcerned about her looks and figure, but she\u2019s now taking more interest. Everyone has been saying how good she looks and she is enjoying wearing more adventurous clothes.\u2019 Sophie broke her rib just days before the Royal Wedding when she fell from her mount while out riding with the Queen.  The Countess is close to her horse-mad mother-in-law, but is not as accomplished a rider.  Sophie, whose daughter Lady Louise Windsor was a bridesmaid at Kate and William\u2019s Westminster Abbey nuptials, was apparently bandaged up and in \u2018a lot of pain\u2019 at the ceremony. Meanwhile, Kate told guests at a recent gala dinner how she was incredibly happy since tying the knot in April even though she sometimes finds her new royal role \u201csurreal.\u201d One guest at the exclusive bash at London\u2019s Kensington Palace told the Daily Mirror newspaper: \u201cKate said she was \u2018loving it\u2019 when asked what married life was like. She added that it was surreal sometimes but that\u2019s to be expected. \u201cShe said she was totally and blissfully happy and her eyes lit up whenever William\u2019s name was mentioned. The pair are clearly so in love.\u201d The onlooker added: \u201cIt was the most extravagant, ostentatious, over-the-top bash you can ever imagine with bankers splashing their cash like there\u2019s no tomorrow. It was not the sort of occasion you would normally associate with royalty. But Kate and Wills took it in their stride like true professionals.\u201d<\/p>\n
