GPRN\/NSCN president \u201cGen. (Retd.)\u201d Khole Konyak, in consultation with National security council, has appointed \u201cLt. Gen\u201d Neokpao Konyak to succeed him as the next \u201ccommander-in-chief of the Naga Army\u201d, besides \u201cBrig.\u201d Samson Aye as \u201cdeputy chief\u201d and \u201cBrig.\u201d Vihoto Chophy, \u201cGSO I Naga Army\u201d, a release issued by MIP stated Wednesday.
\nAccording to MIP release, a special prayer programme was conducted at a joint council meeting at the Oking to bless the new \u201cc-in-c, \u201cdy. c-in-c\u201d and \u201cGSO I of the Naga army.\u201d
\nThe MIP state that an order issued through memo no. APP\/NA\/1-1\/2011-12, described the new c-in-c as a \u201cdistinguished military officer\u201d with unblemished track record over the past three decades in the \u201cNaga army.\u201d
\n\u201cGPRN\/NSCN president Gen. (Retd) Khole Konyak expressed hope that the new Army Chief, a simple yet astute military man would guide the Naga Army in defending the Nation,\u201d the MIP said.
\nThe MIP said \u201cBrig.\u201d Samson Aye\u2019s strong character and unwavering commitment to the Nation was duly acknowledged and recognised.
\nIt also described \u201cBrig.\u201d Vihoto Chophy as an experienced soldier who would not part with revolutionary ethics.<\/p>\n
