This is the first public statement by Mallya on the status of Kingfisher, since the State Bank of India (SBI) tagged him a \u201cwilful defaulter\u201d last week. Mallya holds 4% in United Spirits. \u201cRight now, I am focusing on settling Kingfisher\u2019s affairs with banks,\u201d the USL chairman said on the sidelines of the company\u2019s annual general meeting on Tuesday. TOI exclusively reported last week that Hemant and Sunil Kanoria of Srei are mediating a possible one-time settlement between Mallya and the consortium of lenders led by SBI. Mallya has personal ties with the Kanorias of Kolkata. Mallya, who turns 60 in December, also said he was not retiring from the company\u2019s board yet, but would start thinking about it when he turns 60.
