{"id":12582,"date":"2011-08-06T02:19:09","date_gmt":"2011-08-06T02:19:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2011\/08\/06\/ghowoto-incident-2-apprehended\/"},"modified":"2011-08-06T02:19:09","modified_gmt":"2011-08-06T02:19:09","slug":"ghowoto-incident-2-apprehended","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2011\/08\/06\/ghowoto-incident-2-apprehended\/","title":{"rendered":"Ghowoto incident: 2 apprehended"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/>Two persons were nabbed by IRB personnel deployed at Ghowoto village, Dhansiripar sub-division bordering Peren district Friday on suspicion of being involved in setting fire that destroyed houses and property at paddy fields of Ghowoto villagers.<br \/>\nPRO Dimapur Police disclosed the identities of the arrested as \u2013Histon Rena son of Sepoyi of Chozuba and Velhuta Chujo son of Chekhrolhu of Zulha village Phek disctrict.<br \/>\nPRO said the police acted on FIR lodged by chairman of Ghowoto village council G.Phuhuto Zhimomi at Sub Urban Police station. In the complaint, Phuhuto stated that around 20 youth with arms and ammunition from Jaluki B village went to his paddy field at 5 a.m.Friday and burnt down two houses and assaulted the labourers with warning not to return back. <br \/>\nPRO stated the two arrested persons confessed that on being informed that a new village was established bordering Jaluki B, so they went there in the month of July to claim their share of land in the new village.<br \/>\nThe two claimed that they had gone for hunting to the jungle and while roaming, saw smoke coming out from the paddy field.They said on seeing the fire and smoke they came out of the jungle to the foot track to rest and it was at that time, that IRB party which had also gone to investigate the fire,caught them and also seized their arms and ammunition.PRO said a case has been registered and investigation was on to ascertain the facts. <br \/>\nGhowoto village council demands<br \/>\nMeanwhile, according to Ghowoto village council (GVC) armed miscreants from Jalukilo village, numbering around 50 attacked Ghowoto village during the wee hours of August 5. <br \/>\nA statement issued by GVC chairman Phuhoto Zhimo said the \u201cmercenaries after looting some cash, molesting some women labourers and beating up male labourers\u201d at gun point torched two farm houses.<br \/>\nThe GVC chairman said the village authorities in order not to take law into their hands and to avoid bloodshed reported the matter to the IRB jawans stationed at the village.<br \/>\nOn reporting the matter, Zhimo said the jawans responded immediately by arresting one Histon, son of Sepoyi of Chozuba village and Velhuta Ch\u00fcjo, son of Chekhrolhu Velhuta of Zulhami village after giving a chase.<br \/>\nCiting police seizure memo, the GVC said one 12 bore Sbbl, one muzzle loading gun, 14 numbers of 12 bore cartridge, one crude bomb (handmade), 200 gm of gun powder and one torchlight were seized from their possession.<br \/>\nThe GVC chairman claimed that the equipment, numbers, timing and modus operandi of the attack \u201cclearly indicated\u201d that the attack was another failed pre-planned attack of Jalukilo village to \u201cmassacre the entire populace of Ghowoto village and its properties like they did to Naga united village.\u201d<br \/>\nThe Ghowoto village, in the mean time has placed several demands before the responsible authority. <br \/>\nIt has demanded to book the \u201carrested mercenaries\u201d for robbery, molestation, assault and battering under the relevant section of the National Security Act (NSA). <br \/>\nThe Ghowoto village also demanded the authority to thoroughly investigate whether the two arrested and their group was related to \u201cInavi village massacre\u201d and promptly arrest the remaining mercenaries who managed to escape within 30 days.<br \/>\nThe GVC has also urged the authority to penalize Jalukilo village for \u201crepeated unprovoked attack on Ghowoto village and violation of restraining order issued by the district administration by de-reorganization of the village after making them to adequately compensate Ghowoto village for loss and damage of properties caused during the attack.\u201d<br \/>\nAqahuto area GBs condemn incident<br \/>\nMeanwhile, the Aqahuto Area GBs\u2019 Union has vehemently condemned the incident where miscreants from Jalukielo side destroyed crops and torched huts in the fields belonging to Ghowoto village.<br \/>\nIn a release, the Aqahuto Area GBs\u2019 Union president Phushito Ayemi said people of Ghowoto village and surrounding villages have been maintaining utmost restraint, however, it was the people from Jalukielo village who have been constantly creating trouble in Ghowoto village area. <br \/>\nAnd this time also, the GB union president said miscreants entered into the land of Ghowoto village with intention to cause harm to the villagers and also destroy the property of the people.<br \/>\nFortunately, Ayemi said before miscreants could cause much damage, the IRB personnel deployed in the area intervened and apprehended two people in the process. <br \/>\n\u201cFirearms and handmade explosives recovered from them is a clear indication of their intention,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nFurther, the union has lauded the IRB personnel for their act in protecting the innocent and helpless villagers. <br \/>\nIt also appealed to law enforcing agency not to grant bail to the two miscreants who were out to destroy the peace of the people.<\/p>\n<p>\n<font>For More Updates,
