Banking operations were disrupted across the state Friday with the employees of public sector, cooperative banks, regional rural banks and some private sector banks went on a day-long strike. \nThe strike was called in support of the one-day nation wide strike initiated by United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) in protest against the banking sector reforms.
\nIn Dimapur, around hundred bank employees first gathered at Hong Kong Market before the commencement of the strike.
\nThe strike was peaceful however, many people were seen outside the ATMs waiting for transactions but had to return disappointed since most of the ATMs were short of cash.
\nTalking to this reporter, one of the bank employees said normal functioning of ATMs were affected as there was no one to assist.
\nIn Kohima, Nagaland Rural Bank and Nagaland State Cooperative Bank with all other private Banks joined the rest of nationalized bank employees in the nationwide strike.
\nAll the banks in Kohima remained closed.<\/p>\n
